Basically I am playing in a 6-max 0.02/0.04 cash game, I have pocket 8's, utg calls, then a fold, I raise 3x, then everyone flat calls behind me.

Flop comes 3,6,J all hearts. Pot is 0.60, Get a couple of checks, then a half-pot bet of 0.30. Anyway I fold in this situation, but the player after me flat calls, the rest of them fold. So at this moment im putting them on a flush draw/made flush or a pair of J's.

Turn is a 8c, player A puts out half pot bet 0.60 into 1.20 pot. Player B calls. Pot is now 2.40.

River is a Js, another half pot bet from player A, player B moves all in for 1.94, player A calls.

Player A turns over Kh,Jd (trips), Player B turns over Ah,Th for the flush.

Did I do anything wrong here, given that I was beat up until the river. What would you have done taking into account pot odds and outs. Should I have been looking more at implied odds here. Currency was in £, was my first round of online poker.

Folding the flop is fine, you have an weakish pocket pair, an overcard flopped and there are several players still to act. What happens later in the hand is irrelevant once you fold the flop.

Thinking whether I should have been more aggressive in this spot?

No, the fold was fine. You would hit your set on the turn less than 1 in 10 times and in a 5 way pot your mid pair is probably beat already. Why would you want to be more aggressive?

Agreed about "what happens later in the hand is irrelevant once you fold the flop". Typically I will continue when there is only 1 over on the flop to my pocket pair - but the 'all one suit' leads me to believe otherwise.

I would probably fold in this position as well. It's just a bummer to see what could have been with the hand you had in the end.

i agree you played it right you were beat i hate that too when you fold and your cards come and you would of made out like a bandit. if you win every hand you could win your playing way too many hands .:shot:

You did what I would do to but before the flop I would made stronger bet, at least five times with my pocket pair and then hand would be written by self, I believe I would see the river and my full house. I am telling everyone, cash game on such a small level is almost a pure gamble, it is so crazy.. :-D

How would raising larger preflop help? If UTG makes a 1/2 pot bet again you would call because you put more in preflop and feel you have to? Doesn't make sense.

Also, if the micros are 'almost a pure gamble' then how come good players can consistently crush them?

You made the right call. Scary looking flop for a mid-pocket pair. Plus, the river would have been different had you stayed in.

Hind sight is always 20/20, easy fold on the flop, I don't even care what hits after I have folded shouldn't even care what hits after you fold . If You worry about what hand developes after you have already folded it can get into your psychy and affect your play. Just go with your got at the time and move on to the next hand.

Folding the flop is fine,u can't be result oriented ...with the information current available at your disposal ( mid-pocket pair on a one suit flop with an over card with several players yet to act faced with an half pot bet) u took the correct decision :)
