why is it that sometimes while playing, kickers count on two pair and sometimes they don't, i thought kickers were only counted for one pair , and nothing higher than that.

You have to take the best 5 cards on the board, sometimes your kicker will matter and other times it won't. i.e.

You ........... Them ............ Board
A 4 ............ A 10 .......... A 5 5 2 K
A A 5 5 K .... A A 5 5 K = TIE

A 4 ............. A 10 ............. A 5 5 2 2
A A 5 5 4 ... A A 5 5 10 = They win by out kicking you

you dont have a "kicker" for higher ranked hands.

a straight is decided by the highest card in the straight,
if two people have 3 of a kind, a kicker counts

i hope you get what im trying to say

Easy way to put it: You use the best FIVE cards from the 7 you have to choose from. Kickers only count if they are one of the five cards that make the best hand.
