This hasn't happened, but for some reason I can't get this situation out of my head. Here it is:
So there are 13 players at the table. The stacks range anywhere from $500-5,000. It's 2/4 NL but the blinds are just a technicality because every pot will be raised pre-flop. The table consists of LAGs and LPs with very wide ranges. I'm out of position and I get dealt pocket rockets. I see this playing out a couple of different ways:
1. I raise it to $30. 5 other people call and a flush draw comes up or something else that scares me away on the flop. I'm comfortable with this situation. Either I win this hand in the variety of different ways that are possible (probably by eventually going all in), or I have to fold my rockets. The latter is not fun but at least I only lost $30.
2. I limp in and the pot gets raised for me. When it comes back to me, I go all in and put my $500 in. I get called by 4 other people and it's off to the races with me in front. I'm obviously the favorite to win this pot but I could get unlucky.
Which situation is best? If I had a little bit bigger of a BR then the second option would be a no brainer, but because it's not, then the first option becomes a little bit more attractive, a little less risky.
What does everybody think?
