I am at a currently in the process of weighing the pros and cons of making the step up to purchasing poker tracking software and I am Fishing for everyone's thoughts whether being for or against them and their reasoning behind their position on them.

Where I am at I am not sure if purchasing one will bring me a +ROI/BE ROI. I am an ok player at best if I want to accurately and realistically asses my play at the tables. I feel like there have been countless situations that having HUD would of given me a very good edge and allow me to exploit some weaker opponents more then what I have, but I typically don't grind more then 4 tables at a time with the norm usually being 2 tables. I would also like to keep track of my win rate more accurately and also track my EV accurately. It also seems that for the sake of posting HH it is almost a necessity to get solid feedback on the lines you took for specific hands.

What I don't want to have happened is to become distracted by having one and therefore losing some skill edge due to laziness. Will it force me to have to play more tables to bring my win rate up to at least make the purchase BE.

These ate just some of the ideas I am contemplating and would appreciate some great input from everyone. So please give me all the thoughts you have.

Thank all happy grindin

Don't use it myself for a couple of reasons: I run a linux system, and this soft runs on Win-d'ohs.

I also use direct observation. A HUD can only tell you how a player played in the past, not right now. It can't tell you who's off their game, who's been improving, who's staying the same. I've seen normally nitty players turn into aggrotards because some other player set them off. Direct observation also reveals tells, and these do exist on-line. Bet sizing tells and timing tells are out there. If your vill isn't multi-tabling, then that extra hesitation speaks of a lack of confidence, so that hand you were considering folding to a river bet just became a raising hand. Keeping your own notes on the regs also helps with memory, something no HUD can do for you.

I have what you would call an out of date laptop so the big name trackers i.e. PT4 and HoldemManagerII don't work properly with having basically the minimum requirements to even be compatible but I am upgrading to a new one hence the consideration, I definitely use direct observation, bet sizing, timing tells etc, but if you begin multi-tabling especially over 4 tables it becomes harder to do so accurately particularly when there are unknowns sitting at the table. Not to mention the majority of the training videos/material available all use it when going over lines to play with different board textures and table dynamics.....it's definitely a tough call to use or not to use IMO...

If you're gonna play more than one table, then it's a necessity. There is only so much you can keep track of.

I think it's pretty crucial. Poker is a game of edges, and that is one that you can't allow other players to have over you. It's extra information, better to have it.

Just make sure you don't forget to watch tendencies yourself. Even in zoom it's easy to pick up on tight players and maniacs. I'm constantly trying to guess hands, narrow rsnges etc... Regardless of PT4. It's there only as a booster, not a crutch.

I'm in the same position having the same thoughts. I can 2 table effectively without it but when I play 3-4 I usually have to just play straight forward on those tables. Wish there was a free option for ACR.

Try Poker Tracker 4 free for 30 days. See what you think. I think having a HUD for cash games these days is pretty indispensable.

It's necessary if you're playing online poker. People who are anti or aren't for it, I really can't understand their arguments honestly. I've heard them all in over 12 years of playing and posting online. It never makes any sense to me.

Just for tracking your own results alone it's more than worth it.
