I really have to disagree with you there. Another example of this same logic would be UTG in a full ring game. It is a good idea in tuffer games to play a couple hands like 45s and 56s. The idea behind this is that they add value to the rest of your range. This is typically only vs more sophisticated opponents/tuffer line ups.
If you are playing in a soft game, where you don't need to consider ranges and can play more hands in a vacuum, then you'd probably be correct.
