Ok I was playing a 6 handed table I was utg. I had a6 off and to mix things up I limped. All other players called apart from the guy on my left (high jack I think whatever). Flop came 246. Small blind potted it and i decided to min re raise after the big blind folded. I did this because I felt I normally had the best Hand however since his bet was so big I wanted control of th pot but at the same time I didn't want him to ship it. I felt if I smoothed I'd have to probably pay him off if he had me beat. If he had a flush draw he'd just call and probably not re ship. In other words it was a information raise. If he raised me I was beat if not I'm winning 99/100 times. Everybody else folded apart from him. Turn came a 5. (btw the board was 6 hearts 4 hearts 2 spades and 5 clubs). He bet half pot into me. Now it just looked like a retarded bluff so I called him. River came a 4 he bet half pot and I payed him off. I thought he had a busted flush draw.. He had k3 spades.. Help analyse on the hand please! Ty

I wouldn't have played it at all.

And if you are trying to control the pot, raising the flop bet is not the way to do it.

I dont think you could have played it worse.

1.Fold pre.
2.Dont open limp.
3.Dont raise for pot control, lol.
4.Dont raise for information.
5.Dont assume a bet is a bluff without reads that they've done it before multiple times.

Open-limp UTG is horrible.

I take it by pot control you mean the initiative because I'm not quite getting how you thought raising would ever put in some pot control.

Fold pre. You watch to much TV poker and believe it when they tell you any Ax at a short handed table is a good thing.
