How tight to play a cash game?

Hi there

I am a tourney player transitioning to cash games.

How tight should one play in a 25/50 game? I know it depends on the table but preflop i play tight but what about postflop?

Preflop should one say reraise with jj and tt in pos vs middle pos open from a tight passive fish or just call? What about qq just call or reraise in same situation and what if he reshoves 100bb?? What about ak off same situation with same player or thight players.

Post flop what about calling all in with trip KT and flop 49K turn K and you get reraised 100bb all in by medium aggresive player??

You can play the same way you would in a tournament so long as it's far from the money. Of course, this means that all factors are the same including effective stack and opponent types. But if you're deciding whether to 3-bet or flat with JJ against a tight opponent who raised from middle position with a 100bb effective stack: I would make the same decision (usually 3-bet) regardless of whether it was a cash game or early stage tournament play.

I play at the cash tables ... and I can tell you that unlike the tournaments at the cash tables on a daily basis you can be with the same players every day ...! that allows you to know them better ... so in this way you will know if you must play aggressive and passive against a specific player ...! what I am trying to tell you is that you can adjust your game strategy depending on your opponent ... and as advice you don't always play the same since your opponents also study you and if you become predictable they will beat you ...!

Because you have more experience with a shorter stack than 100bb:
If I were you I would buy-in cash games with a short stack.
Then you can just do what you normally do.
It will take time to learn all the spots you asked about being 100bb deep. And there is no simple answer.

You mentioned that preflop is situational and player dependent.
The same will be true will be same with the postflop sitatuations.

Knowing your players is what will help you make the best Plays.

I can't really say, but I think that cash games and tight can't be together. Previously, I actively played a cash game and I can't imagine how it is possible to play tight at the cash table. Cash table is a fast game and Jj or Tt hands you must play aggressively, pre-flop and post-flop. You should only evaluate all-in chances based on statistics and observation of a specific player and the size of the pot on the table. About the situation when you have a trip or set on the turn, I don't see a situation when you fold.. This is a very strong hand If you put a big bet, with a big pot, and a flush draw on the table, this is not very reasonable. Of course, you can get a fullhouse or kicker higher, you should not be afraid of this, if you fold in every situation when there is a chance to get a stronger hand from the opponent, you will not be able to win anything in the cash game.

It is statistically proven that solid LAG play is the long run winner of cash games especially in 6-max format. If you wait for strong hands it is possible to blind out. But if you are transitioning you can try TAG style then gradually transition to LAG.

Position is extremely important. That is the single most important thing to remember.

As far as how tight, it varies depending on opponent. Only experience will teach you when you bluff when to value bet and when to call a villain big bet with mediocre hand (generally not recommended unless he is a LAG and you are pretty certain he is bluffing).

Another thing I would say is that it is ok to check call if you have a hand with showdown value. Many LAGs cant help but to try to bully you if they sense weakness.
