Today I found myself in a four person cash game. Everyone was utlra aggressive, raising 4x the BB pre flop. I didn't feel comfortable calling something like that with K10o or even A10o. When they would take eachother to showdowns I would see hand like K7o, K9s, ect. Hand that I would have found profitable. With four people in a cash game, should I open up the range of my hands and be looser with my betting? I can't just wait around for a premium hand because they won't win me a big enough pot for the amount of blinds that I'll be paying to play. Or should I just not get into these kind of games?

I assume you're a FR player, aren't you? The less players there are, the more aggressive you should play and the more value your ace and king hands get. If you're not feeling comfortable playing at that aggression then stay away from those tables for now because the blinds will just chip away quickly if you don't feel like playing wide ranges more aggressive and when you do get prems your winnings won't make up for your losses because you wont be getting as much action.

I quite like the challenge of 4 handed poker but you can only play it best if you are playing on no more than 2 tables. If you are not paying full attention in a 4 handed game then you are just giving yourself a serious disadvantage.

Mind you the variance is significantly higher with a 4 handed game since you pretty much have to steal pots and make bluffs which are inevitably going to not work all the time. Tilting is also very very deadly in short handed poker so be sure you have control on your nerves or else you can lose a couple of BI before you know...

For me personally 4 is the minimum limit, as soon as a table gets down to 3 players is when I sit out. I would say minimum 5 players make a solid cash game table.

When there are only 4 players, the only way to "stay" in the game, in to play agressive or to have luck :)).
