i play fairly good online against players that are half decent... but for some reason when i play in person i have trouble against 5 or 6 players that dont even know what outs are.... After only winning 1 out of 7 games i switched it up to cash games... In the cash games i am 5 for 5 on leaving with more money than i sat down with, but my friends want to switch back to tourny games... I know i can dominate them if i new how to play... i bluff maybe once or twice the whole night... and i dotbet preflop any more because ill raise 4times the blinds wiht AK and get 4 or 5 callers...you guys know of n e strategies i can use...blind stealing is out of the question with these guys

sound to me playing tight/passive is the way to go. only open big hands and get in as cheap as possible. and try to rely on your post flop skills and positon more. make your preflop raises larger with made hands.

If they keep calling like that, bet 6x the big blind.

Too many caller with a big hand means you're less likely to win the pot.

If your buddies are going to call you, charge them a lot to see the flop.

I have the same problem in my home game, the players know how to play, they are just so stupidly aggressive it makes it hard when your not getting hands.

usually these types of players have really predictable patterns you can easily exploit, they will bluff mroe and put there stack in with 2nd pair, get into the flop cheap and outplay them postflop... thats the way i approach my home games and ive been able to do really well in the tournaments we play. generally fast escalating blinds.

be more willing to play their game...get that JQo in there and don't fold it! and get caught a few times with 2To, get yourself outed a good couple times. sometimes those hands hit big time anyway. make them think you're no better than they are...so when your monsters do hit, you got em. if you're tight and passive, and only agg when you're sure you got em, someone's going to pick up on it. play trash from position with a little more consistency and that should be enough. it's no different from when you're 20 and set up a money basketball game and dribble the ball off your foot and shoot a few airballs

This ^ is all you need to know about home type games. Players, in general, have no clue as to what the true value of their hand is. All in calls with crap like kjos are common place, because kj is only slightly worst than ak in their view and must surely be good enough to go all in with.

Play your good hands very hard and fast. Make them pay to suckout. Then you'll be a winner.

Drop the stakes and play it as a bit of fun.
Our home games are insane. Two of us play regularly online, and so usually win a bit more often than the rest (quite often ends up the two of us heads-up), but the rest of the guys are still learning the game and really dont think twice about shoving their chips in with a pair of 4's. lol
The longer you play, the better they will get. Possibly, over time, you will get to a point where everyone takes it seriously. Until then....STOP TRYING TO FLEECE YOUR MATES! hehe.

There is an old saying about not being able to make sophisticated plays against unsophisticated players. They wont respect your 3 or even 4 bets, and probably wont even know what a check-raise is, let alone lay their cards down in fear!

Dont worry about that buddy...Their success can never last long with that type of strategyat all...
As for u, i would say switch to loose aggressive mode for some time till u think they have been convinced, and after that u can switch back to ur tight mode...That may put them in dilemma and will surely make them commit big blunder mistakes...
Just wait for that chance and grab it !!!
After that again follow the same LOOSE AGGRESIVE -TIGHT PASSIVE routine. U can keep them thinking all night lol...

ive been doing a lot better i made the top 2 three out of the last 4 times i played with them...the only thing i really changed is i started payining more attention to the psychology part of the game instead of just the math.....when they talk about tells i let them know my tell is when i put my chips in the pot i have the nuts... and i make it a point to show my big hands and repeat to all of them "when i put my chips in i have the nuts" later in the game when we get down to 4 or 5 players im getting more folds and able to steel more effectively now ...i never really paid attention to table image but it plays a big part........thanks for your help guys.....check out my other thread because i still need help with heads up
