Just wondered how often 2 players hit a flush by the river I'm tilting a bit today due to a few bad beats but 3 times I have lost to a higher flush. I'm starting to want to play more cautiously when on any flush draw unless I hold the ace.

I probably could have folded pre-flop but I was tilting a bit and decided to play this one last hand before having a break.

Should I just call the river bet.

This is why I like sooted aces :p
Just remember for each time this happens the same thing should happen but in your favour just as many time in the longrun. (in the near infinite longrun)

Lol at the people telling you to fold that pre.. Yeah it would have been the right play.. But get real, play some damn poker, it was .2 more to try and protect his BB.. What is unfortunate for you is that nobody bet the flop, cause that woulda been an easy lay down. But then you hit the draw, I woulda called the .10 too. On the river that raise was not good, look at that board, pretty draw heavy and hes only going to call with a better hand, your flush is just so low. He may call a raise with two pair but probably not and if he had two pair he would have bet the flop and bet more on the turn and probably checked the river if you kept calling. This happens but it is more likely that it wont be flush over flush. Unfortunate mate. LOL at his river bet and call.

Thing is though, villain stack size is not a full one. Think we need maximum implied odds here to call even a minraise with suited garbage?

Barring reads I call pre, fire a quick half-pot probe on the flop to see if I get folds, and when I don't and turn my FD just check/call since I have terrible RIOs vs better flushes.

I don't have a problem with the raise on riv. Hindsight is 20-20, but obv not that thin. getting value against a ton of worse hands n VERY few are better at that point.

Weak starting ranges + I really don't need a lot of folds to profit. My half-pot range contains a ****ton of air because I only need to get folds 1/3 of the time to profit from half-pot bluffing the flop.

I would add that I'd been hitting flush draws all morning on the flop and never hitting by the river and when I finally do i got a bit kiddy. Also the 0.10 bet on the river felt like the villain wanted a cheap showdown. I think if we stay in the hand instead of folding pre then calling is definitely the best line as my river raise is likely only to get called by better flushes.

cheers for the advice it helps me realise that i can't blame bad luck as i could of saved money by folding pre (optimally) or just calling the river.

Not sure about firing half pot on the flop this is the micros and they do like to chase gutshots. so anyone with a 10,9,Q,7,8 and will peel another card.

Although after how today has gone I can't really criticise, it's got a lot worse since posting this hand. Love this game!!!!
