:hello: This is my 2nd post here and I wanted to say hello out there. I want to know if you guys think its better playing 1 table and concentrating on that or instead play 2 or more tables at a time. I used to play like 3 tables but I hear its not a very good idea cuz u dont focus well on either table and might make some bad calls. However playing only 1 table is so boring if you play tight /aggresive like me , that alot of times Im surfing the net. How do you guys play?

I play the same style; tight aggressive and if i play 1 table i too get bored.
I can handle 2 tables, but my focus still goes down. 3 and up is where i just get lost :p

If I'm in a FR, in the beginning (first hour-hour and a half) I'll play another table while donks get weeded out. After that, I just play that FR exclusively, as not to distract me. But if I'm playing an SNG, I'll play 2 at a time, but no more. I'd be lost!!!!

I usually play 2-3 tables because I think I might suffer from ADD:). When I play more than 1 table I find it much easier to only play great startinghands. However you should only play more than 1 table if you're a winning player at that limit IMO and you feel comfortable with the number of tables you're playing. If you feel you're making loads of bad plays, you should cut back on the number of tables you're playing.

It depends, once you are good enough in 1 table playing add more tables, these will cut down the variance greatly, you will run bad in maybe one table but the other tables will make up for it, I usually quad table especially the sit n goes, its is very important to multi table online else your better of playing on a B&M casino

i also have ADD... i need more than one table. but when i tried playing four, sometimes it just became too much, and i was not playing any of the tables well. Three is easier to manage and is certainly doable (since you fold more than 1/3 of the time if you are playing only good hands, you will normally play only one table at a time). the best though is to play two tables, and have pokertracker windows open next to them. then you can keep track of what's going on so people don't set you up for a big loss ;)

I also get extremely bored playing one table. However, I stick to it, b/c you can learn a lot about the way some of the people at the table play. With multiple tables I find that yeah, you can do ok just playing the premium hands, but it is hard to keep track of how all the people are playing, so you lose somewhat of an edge. If I get too bored and need a break, I'll go play H/L Omaha, that should be enough action to keep you busy.. hehe.

Recently I've gotten into the groove of playing 1 NL table and 1 PL table. I dunno why but, it seems i start getting too loose if I'm only playing 1 table. I have 2 tables going, surfin the net (or reading a book), and when I get something decent to play I put all my focus on that table. Every once in a while I'll get a hand to play at both tables, and then I have to pull out my ADD magic :)

THREE FOR ME

In cash games, I prefer to play three tables. I play best with a very tight (15-20% flops seen) and aggressive game. When I play just one or two cash games, I start playing borderline hands and I don't do well. So, for me, three tables is just about right.

I also play with Poker Office and keep the stat windows open on a second monitor. I really like having two monitors for poker (and many other applications).

If I am playing in a SnG, I might play a cash game at the same time. But I usually play just the SnG table.

If I am in a MTT, I will usually play a SnG or cash table for the first hour to help me stay super-tight and survive the idiot factor. After that I like to concentrate just on the tournament with some Led Zepplin or Stones for inspiration.

If I realy have my heart set on clearing a bonus then I play 4 tables, other than that I stick to 1 or 2.

I must be the odd ball here. I do my best when I have 4 tables. I usually have 2 limit OH8 and 2 NL holdem going at the same time. I also will run 4 tables of NL holdem.

I take notes on people that play against me as much as I can. I know I miss some suttle moves at the table in hands I am not in but I am still making money on most tables so why not play as many as possible.

Titan, you're the man... I play O8 and NLHE at the same time (I don't find it too hard a jump - I'm sure draw or stud would prove harder to mix with Holdem or Omaha).
Generally, though, I try to only have one proper cash game going at any one time - whether it's a Sit-n-Go or a ring game or whatever, and any others will be freerolls. If it gets interesting on the main game I'll just put the others on post and fold, and come back when there's a lull. Sometimes I've signed up for a few SnGs and 2 or 3 start close together, and I don't get a chance to unregister, so I play multiple real money games at once... on a 1600x1200 display it's not too bad, but on the laptop with only 1024x768 you only really get one table in view at once, and when 3 hands come up at once it can be hard to switch between them without getting slightly lost...
If you're playing a psychological game, then you probably need something like PokerOffice to give you plenty of accurate information on the other players. A solid maths-based game suffers rather less from playing multiple tables, as reads aren't the basis of your strategy.

One of the other things I'll sometimes do to pass the time is just watch a couple of other tables - see if I can spot players at multiple tables, see what the other tables at the same stakes are like (whether they look more profitable), or to see how the higher-stakes games look compared to the ones I'm currently bankrolled for... the fringe benefits of the last one being it motivating you to build up your bankroll and to make putting your money in seem less scary after watching 3- and 4-figure pots regularly between
playable hands.

I play low to micro levels so I don't bother trying advanced moves to often, they tend to backfire anyway at that level so I play math and odds alot until I get some notes about someone. Aggression is all that works down in the slums. I have a higher res on my laptop so I can see all 4 of my hands if I get to different seats at 4 tables.
