Just wondering...

How many hours does your sessions last?

When I fire my laptop and begin playing I don't really know for how long I will be playing, but I read somewhere that we should have a plan and stick to it ( unless we are tilted obv). Like say for example play for 1000 hands and just stick to it whether you are winning or loosing.

Ooh and btw, do you guys take multiple sessions a day? or just 1 session a day.

thank you for the info, see you at the tables ;)

Mine last about 2.3 hours. At least they have over the last month according to PT4.

I don't have a plan for how long I'll play. Usually it's 1-3 hours. But, I quit as soon as I feel like I am not into the game. It can be as soon as 15-20 minutes after I begin. If I feel like the game is good, I'll play more than 4 hours.

Sometimes I'll do a morning and an afternoon. But usually, it's just one session a day.

my poker game revolves around family sleep and work. I generally play for a couple hours a day. days off i can play 4-6 hours. days like tomorrow i will play 14 hours probably, family is out of town. I once played $200nl live at the same table for 36 hours strait. i was younger then but i could still go 20-24 im sure without losing focus.

8 hours total. Play 4, take a lunch break, then another 4.

Depends how I feel (sleepy or fresh) and how things are going. I quit if I am getting fed up with the results (so I don't tilt).

Seems that the best is to play several short sessions of maybe 30 minutes or so.

Depends on which game I'm playing.

If I'm grinding MTT's, ultimately in general these sessions last the longest and can range from anywhere between 3hours - 12hours.

If I grind SnG's...I'm quite lazy and only do 1-2 hour sessions. (I think I get easily bored quickly with SnGs)

Cash games; I tend to put in longer hours than SnG's and can play anywhere between 2-6hours.

3 hours, 4 maximum, I think that after 4 hours you can't stay that focused.

1.5-2 hours/session. Maybe up to 3 times/day if I get the chance.

My eyes can't really handle long sessions so I generally only play for an hour or two at a time unless I'm running really deep in a tournament.
I don't always listen to music but I have found it helps me to not tilt so much so I tend to listen to it more now.

Also, how does one stay awake for 36 hours without drugs or something? lol

I play for at least 2-4 hours a session...usually twice a day...although if the game is good and I got time to kill...i could easily play for 8-10 hours straight...with small few minute breaks in between to eat drink stretch use restroom...one of the most importsnt factors is not how long to play but when to stop....ive had games where I was winning but had fanily business so I had to stop...those things will happen....what im refering to about when to stop is a couple things....

Recognizing tilt and boredom
Controlling losses
Slow/no action tables

You should also quit playing if you got personal things that need done or if your house is on fire....

I agree short sessions ,30 minutes to an hour, works best for me. Unless i am playing a tournament. I usually do 3 to 4 short sessions a day more if i have nothing else going on.

I play until I feel like I am not playing my A game or until I have something else I'd rather do. Once you get tired just quit right there and then.

Music is fine. I tend to not play my usual Metalhead stuff when playing poker though and tend to favor instrumental stuff.

I feel that I play optimal in sessions lasting no more than 2 hours. I don't always make it that long though.
