I know it's normally 20 buyins per level but should we adjust this by how many tables we play?

you obviously have to if you are playing 21+ tables and you ideally need some buyins in reserve for auto top ups and rebuys after getting stacked.
. Also add more buyins as you move up so that you have a bigger cushion for shot taking at the next level

20 buyins isn't "normal". It's the low end of how many buyins people regard as an acceptable BRM guideline. Also, 20 isn't equally suitable for every player; e.g. assuming the same BR, one who plays a high-variance style and/or in higher-variance games like turbos is more likely to go broke than one whose style is less swingy and/or who plays lower variance games.

Yeah I personally am thinking a 30 buy-in before moving up... And 30buy-in for the level below to move down if need be.

That should give me more than a day or two to try the level properly :) last time I lost 10buy-ins and was forced to go down after 1 bad session.

How many buy-ins do you go by?

As a beginner I have decided to have 50 Buy ins for my SnG bankroll leveling ... I think 50-100 BB should be enough to handle few bumps ( bad beats...downswings) on my way ...It really depends on how relax you are as person when having a rough day or two and how can you go to lower limit if it is necessary.

Yes after a couple times of going up and down and learning to cope with downswings. I feel I am starting to come grips and play solid even though my bankroll is going down.

full ring 2nl I don't seem to have much downswings only a nice upswing every so often which is great. 6max I'm a bit more up and down

I do a thing call the double bang. I double my buy-ins before moving up stakes. I'll usually have 100 buy-ins per level and 25 buy-ins per table when multi-tabling . I find it weak to have 40 buy-ins per level, so 20 is obviously not good.

The more the better, and yes 20 is definitely the low end of acceptable.

Yeah I would say 20 is pretty aggressive BRM, I prefer 40+ myself.

As for the multi tabling thing, if you are playing a reasonable number of tables like 8 or less I don't think you need any more buy-ins for 1 vs 4 vs 8 tabling.

No you dont need to adjust. You can still use the 20 buy in per level rule on each table you add. Just be aware that the more tables you play the worse you play.

When I'm playing my normal stake (the stake where I feel as though I can still beat the games but only just) I tend to like to have 50+.

However, when I play lower stakes (as I am atm) I play with as many I feel as though I need, and that can be lower than 20 in some cases.

In my mind it can be 'calculated' as a function of your edge.

Mostly when people talk about BRM they are just starting out or trying to move up, hence why being conservative is almost always correct.

Thanks Cafeman appreciate that... I think i'll do 30 buy-ins and each level I go up i'll add 10 buy-ins to a max of 50buy-ins and see how I go :)

Learn from our mistakes from the past and build from it... That's what I'm trying to do anyway.
