Iíve been finding that my time at a cash table is often limited to an hour due to different situations. Some things that have affected my decision to leave a table (that didnít include stuff happening around me at home that made me drop a game) include:
- table emptying out without new ďbloodĒ filling seats (I donít like playing short-handed right now)
- fish/whale getting stacked and leaving table
- fish winning a big hand and promptly leaving to ďtake profitĒ
- Changing conditions such as a LAG sitting down to my left and making life more difficult for me
- when I get stacked for a second time in a session (thatís my personal stop loss)
- when I sense tilt beginning to creep into my game
Itís kind of rare that I get to leave a table on my own terms (where I feel Iím tired and need a break). My sessions usually average somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes. On some rare occasions, I go for longer than an hour at a given table.
In total, the longest a cash session goes for me is usually around 1.5 hours, but usually around an hour.
What have you guys experienced? Whatís your average session length?
Mine averages around an hour too, mainly for the same reason as you that people are either sitting out or leaving, I go to play a 6max not a HU lol. I never stack the fish either, someone else seems to do it, and I know all too well about the calling station hitting their draws and doing a runner straight after lol.
I would rather play right and lose than to play wrong and win

I think it's good that you have conditions for leaving, especially if the dynamics have become less favourable.
My average session is 4-5hours but I've done longer. 11.5k hands last week for example, that must have been an 11hour session that I finished at 6am. (I was stuck a lot and going through a downswing lol)
I have had similar experiences. When I grind for longer than an hour or 2 i seem to leave only up between 10% and 50% of a buy in. My shorter sessions are usually when I have lost my stack a couple times. I feel like I really need to change gears alot in order to continue winning but that leads to losing both to Nits who get their set mine and to LAGtards that bluff me off TPTK. It can be very frustrating.
Hey. Usually my gaming session lasts about 2 hours, then I take a short break and continue to play for another 2 hours. In the future I want to devote more time to playing poker and play about 8 hours a day, but it is quite difficult for me.
