Im new to poker and playing micro stakes LIMIT holdem.

I have noticed that when I have a good second best hand I seem to turn into a manic!!

Ill raise and reraise a raise.

Sometimes I take down a big pot but other times I loose to, what I knew, to be the best hand.

Im beginning to think that this is causing me to loose more than I gain.. so I guess its a leak in my game. (or is it just poker???)

Right now my hand reading abilities are next to zero so whats my best stratagy? Im also trying to be a multitabler .. so hand reading needs to come from Poker Tracker stats.

Do I fold when I am raised if I feel that I could be beaten?

Do I simply call?

Or do I fold?

Examples of this tend to be when I am holding top two pair and I am beaten by a set or I have a straight but loose to a flush.

My biggest problem here is the set.

I could fold a staight to a flush if there is a possible flush on but a set... how could I ever know?

If folding is the way forward wont this make people more inclined to raise me hoping that I will fold.. how do I altermy game to comensate for this?

Myy starting hands are those described in Small stakes Holdem by Sklansky and Miller (incase thats relevent)

All insites will be greatly apreciated guys.

style is style - if maniac works for you go with it, i'm not going to change that. in my opinion, the two biggest things people can do to make them a better poker player than the next person are : playing tight then appropriately switching to aggressive in tournaments... and rule #2 is LOSING LESS. Each time you lose, you now need to win twice to pull a profit. In limit my raised bets often signify my hand strength in comparison with the person that I'm playing (though they don't always know this). I rarely go over the top w/ second best hands on 3-4bets unless I KNOW the person is an idiot - a situation I only run into every-so-often unfortunately. Simply look at your cards, and the value of those cards in comparison to the board. With limit you get a lot of control with potsize and make it worthwhile.
Folding top 2-pair is an unlikely move in limit though, so just check-call... I don't know if I helped all that much, but mostly from what i understand, I think the biggest thing you need to work on is limiting losses because that is a second form of winning.

for me it is a simple mathemativ and strategic question:

A rerraise with the second best hand is good to get rid of other players because they think that they have to invest a lot of money for the raises and reraise

To get someone fold in limit is very difficult on the other hand - so better don't try that too often

So you have to calculate your chances to get the best hand at the end and the amount of the pot - to call -or to fold your hand

This is the hardest to lay down ever, and will depend on your knowledge of his play (checkraiser, drawer bluffer, tight), and when you suspect he hit the flush. (flop, river). Try to match up the timing to his style, and try to make the best read you can.

Do not get used to paying them off just so you can know. Unfortunately, this will lose you alot of chips. I talk from experience b/c I did this alot when I started.

You're never going to be folding two pair to a set. Need to bet/call more and keep the 4bets for biggest hands. I saw the hh where you checked flush then maxed out on the end of paired board. You would've lost same amount in that instance but that was a bet/raise, bet/call, check/call as you realize you could be beat.
