I play mainly at stars, but also at BCP. (But the question goes for any site, and I would appreciate feedback from smaller sites like enet or 888 w/e)

At micro stakes, 10nl stars anyway, there are a combination of reg multi tablers and fish, and even a few decent players. Time makes a difference. Daytime for me are more regs, evening and weekend more recreational.

Waiting lists on some tables get longer than 10 - for 6 max - So I try to look for a 5 handed table and hop on. Then after an orbit or 2 I can see if I like it.

How do you guys table select when the field is so large and its mostly unknowns. I mark players but dont have a way to see if my marked players are playing.

open up a table and 'hit ctrl s' 11 times and then ctrl 9. Every 15mins do a table check and leave the bad ones and hit 'ctrl s' to fill up the gaps and 'ctrl 9' to tile. I think wasting time finding good tables is dumb when almost 80% of the tables are good anyways.

You can but you dont get to choose where ppl sit and you have to be confident in your hu and 3 handed game. Even though you will be 2-3 handed for a short while most of the time, its so much easier to make mistakes that will just ruin the rest of your session

I do pretty much the same as you FD and join those with 5 seated. If there aren't any free seats I join waiting lists of all those with zero waiting. No idea why anyone would bother joining a list with 10 waiting, the fish will be long gone.

Then I wait 10-15mins to get a feel for the table but sometimes leave almost right away if there are two regs to my right.

It's much easier to select when playing less tables (<5 for 6max) because you have time to assess the conditions.

On Stars i sort the tables by nr of players, VPIP and average pot all descending. Ussualy up to 10 NL there are a lot of tables with high VPIP so it is easy to find lots of bad players. I give a lot of importance to this because no matter how good you are you won't improve your winrate unless you are against the worse players possible. Also if you tagged someone as a fish you can see it in the lobby some other time.

I am sorting by Stakes / Plrs / Vpip/ at 2nl. I look for an average stack of $2 or more and the highest average pot tables with 30%+ preflop.

I dont know if this is the best but Im trying to play a tightish game against fish. I target the fish and will loosen my range a bit to get in a pot with the crazies and try to get big pots with good cards. Its not really working.

Why are there queues 6 people long at FR? In joining waitlist for tables with 2 or less and finding some 35%vpip games with 0 waiters. I should probably play less tables till im winning hehe.

There are heaps of tables with 12% vpip and small pots, why would you want to play those? I do end up in big pots for stacks but you see these people donking off. Some guy joined the table then went all in preflop like 5 times in a row and won twice with crap. He'd played 80% for 30 hands and the shark were licking their lips waiting for this guy as he just trampled upon good play and got his $2 to 12 in about an hour. I seem to get in pots with this kind of player but they get good hands every now and then too. :) /  /:confused:

I specifically look for individual fish where I can get them on my direct right or 2 to the right.

I mark all regs/SSers/fish/nits etc so I know who is who when looking through the lobby.

I mainly look for uncolour coded players or people with like 70-99bb's without auto top up on. seat selection is probably more important than table selection, especially at micros where you can get a direct seat on fish no problems. only at 100+ does the availability of these kinda seats drop!
