I was playing a 2-5nl full ring tonight at the casino, i had pocket 8s OOP, raised preflop to $25, had 2 callers, flop was:

10c, 8d, 9d (cant remember if it actually was a 9... guessing not because i would have folded on the 180 with all those extra OE outs).
i check, next guy bets $75, next folds, I call
turn comes; Ad, i check, villain bets $180, i call
river comes; 8d
So im now sitting on the undisputable nuts, and hoping he had improved to a high flush from a two pair or top pair or a bluff, so i contemplated how to get the most out of it since we both had another ~350 left in our stacks.
I decided to move all in, and he folded after some time.

Should i have done a "bad" bet like $100, to seem as if im just trying to steal the pot with a weak flush or something, and have him shove over the top? or was i right to make the all in, in hopes of maximum value..

Also comment on whether or not i should have folded on the turn with the possible flush there. i had called due to his prior behaviour of big bets to steal since he had such a large stack.

I would have bet the flop. To many draws there that can beat your Set.

As for the way you played it, I would go for a value bet on the river.

yeah, hate check calling flop.

either lead, or check raise.

people love to call live, especially on a board that wet..

check snap the river, its hard to believe he'll check back anything thats calling your shove anyway, so snap him or lead small for value from weak one pair (I'm aware of the 8 pairing) hands.

Little confused - you have two 8d on the board - but assuming there are 4 diamonds on the board and hoping he has a decent flush (K,Q,J) =- the fact the board paired up really cools his jets. I am sure he is not seeing quads but certainly wary of a full house. Either one crushes him. About the only thing he is going to go all the way with is an over pair he hit a set with for a full house (TT).
How well did you Hollywood that river?

But I agree with bet that flop and value bet the river - make it so he can't refuse to call. I probably would have replicated his $180 and hoped he either interpreted it as weak or at least recognized he was getting an excellent over 4-1 to call.

yeah, in retrospect i did play to light with the checking, and mistype with the 8d twice, first one is now a club and the 10 was diamond..

Thanks for the input.

I agree with campbell92, he was leading so you should have let him bet, or like you said maybe a very small valuebet, with a big bet you gave him no other change but fold.

From what you have wrote i agree with the rest....did you have any kind of read on the guy (is he going to fire the third barrel alot) if not then value bet the river all the time.Or if you think he has a good made hand like top boat in which case sheck raise or bet tank shove is a good standard play.

Bet the flop 100% of the time. Then bet the turn. Then shove the river.
