Hi there, i'm new to poker.

i go play cash games and lost my $100 buy in in 4/5 games. In the 1 game that had no losses, i profited only about 25 bucks.

I keep my cool and play correctly, but suddenly, when someone tries to bluff when there's a big pot, even though, i have no good hand, just a high card, i feel tempted to put more money out of anger. This spikes in anger is making me loose.

This happens to me even in some free poker games that's played for fun

how do you control it?

one example, i was playing in cash games, 1/3 no limit hold'em for $100 buy in. I was left with $60. With just one pair of KK on the river, someone raised me for $55. I called and i lost it in few secs.

I'm afraid in cash games when someone has a large stack sizes.

Smoke some happy herbs, or go for a walk. You need to get your mind off of i as quickly as possible.

If that was your entire bankroll then you shouldn't have been playing in those stakes at all. You should've been in the micros, maybe $0.5/$1.

But that's beside the point - if you're having issues controlling yourself at the table, find another one or log off for the day - you're tilted. Go do something else and come back fresh once you're centered. Playing tilted will not only kill your gains but good players will pick up on it and exploit you.

i hate losing

If you play with $100 at $1 $2 cash expect it to disappear pretty quickly unless you limp constantly and play real tight then it might last a few hrs But if you have a strong hand and you feel the need to call a big raise and lose , the $100 will evaporate after a few hands You need at least $250 starting stack to absorb swings I for one hate when others beat me in a pot I never say nice hand? Nice hand for what? They just took your money. When i bust out i storm off the table while some morons say "nice playing with you guys" In other words i am not gracious in defeat

Hey. Fear of huge banks this is ok. 3-bet banks, for example, are rare enough, so you will be playing uncertainly. But I did not understand anything about your limits in cash games. Did you sit at the table with 1bi in $ 100? In any case, if you are exposed to tilt, then you have to use a large bankroll (50-100bi) or stop playing as soon as you lose 5-8bi.

If you only deposited 100 dollars then you shouldn't start at a 1/3 table. Try starting at .10/.25c table just to build up your bank roll. This way their stack won't scare you away from a hand because the stakes aren't your whole bank roll.

If you are new to poker, you should be playing freerolls and maybe 1cent-2cent cash tables. Playing $1-$3 offers you no extra benefit, you are just losing more money for no reason.

It's called Tilt

If your profitable for your session go home unless your still just having fun. All you can do vs someone who is going to call all his money on you is get in with the goods pre flop/post flop hopefully your good with nut outs if he catches a miracle river card then it wasn't meant to be why care and if your good you can consider it a temporary loan and win all their chips 15 hands later.

i had the same anger problem playing poker, and it always makes me loses, but now i controlled it after i did read some articles about how to play cash games, i suggest you do the same, and if you want i can give you some useful links, but the most important thing is really to slowdown and think before you make any movement, if you just start pushing the buttons without thinking you will lose, patience is the key, and losing few dollars is better than the whole bankroll

Maybe play $1 tournaments or cash games. Don't play all your money at one time.

Also if you feel like you getting angry, take a break and walk around to clear your head. Anger is a sure way to lose, in poker we call it "tilt"

When you find out the answer, I wouldn't mind you telling me too. I have a bad habit of thinking people at the table are actively trying to mess with me with their play waaaay too easily and it makes me want to take them the heck out and not back down against them no matter what.

You need to play in smaller cash games untill you
can control your train of thought. If you go on tilt
in a high anti cash game you will lose money fast.
If you want the thrill of playing a high risk game,
buy lots of play chips in poker stars and get in the
millon chip bye in game and get experence playing
in the big leauge.

Try playing at lower stakes online or something if losing at those stakes gets to you emotionally. Use it to build confidence or as practice for bigger games you'll play in later on.

Try lower limits. Gives you a chance to grow your skill before jumping in with the regs at 100nl and 300nl, and it'll help yo get used to the suckouts without spaffing off 100s of dollars. 5NL is probably a good starting point for someone with your roll. Always buy in for the table maximum also, gives you the best chance to gain value from your best hands! Best of luck

Losing is part of the poker, main part. Losing is a GOOD thing because everytime you get bad beat you LEARN something.

I have had bad problems also with controlling emotions after losing. Then I changed my attitude. Nowadays I TRY TO LOSE. Every time when I get a bad beat I jump from of my sofa and yelling yippee, and opposite if I win I am pissed off and angry. That really helped me a lot. The best strategy to win in poker is just don't give an F.

Why do you care about other players and their stack in the first place? You should be playing for you and your own game!

You're buying in a little short for the stakes you are playing. There is a strategy to that but it sounds like your problem is with being the short stack. You could always buy in deeper or move to a level where $100 is a deep stack/max BI. Goodluck!

Well, it sounds like you have identified a leak in your game and you want to improve.Awesome... That is the right way to go about getting better.
Advice: There is no reason to get mad or jealous. As many here said, you are playing above your skill level and bank roll.
Google Poker bank roll management.
