say you have TT and you think you're against top 5% hand rages so 99+, AKs, AKo, AQs, AJs and KQs. How can you calculate your equity pre-flop say in a Live Game?

I think most people who do it well are able to estimate it from their time spent working with PokerStove or Equilab.

It's a good question this; What are the maths involved and is there a quick simple way to calculate like figuring out the odds for your hand to improve (i.e. number of outs * 4 if two cards to come, *2 if one card to come etc).

If somebody does answer your question, will you not bother to read it properly like you just did with my comment?

Simple....

Go on pokerstove/equilab and put TT in for hero and the range of hands mentioned for player 2 and click evaluate....that will be the equity pre against that range.....43% equity for the tens.

You can't.

As you learn the game you can begin to understand estimated equity. I made the ace poker drills equity trainer specifically to help people with this. The idea being that as you begin to train in common spots, you'll be able to estimate equity more precisely through repetition. It's a tool to improve the learning curve versus playing millions of hands. Subconsciously you'll begin to understand the patterns and the relationship to equity pretty quickly (in comparison to playing massive amounts of hands) if you drill yourself at it.

I am just learning from equilab. What I have come up with for the live cash game I play with mostly same players. If there is a raise in front of me & I put them on a 15% range I will call with my 8-10% range or 3 bet with my 2-4% range. Will also factor my position at table & players left to act. Would probably tighten my range in a game that all players are new to me. So far it seems to have worked to keep me out of tough decision spots.

PokerStove vs. AcePokerDrills

I tried Ace Poker Drills and could not figure out how to use it. I found PokerStove easy to understand and quick to use.
