Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I playing a regular pub cash game (4-5 handed) where there is a super aggressive lag that i struggle to play against.

we play 25p/50p with a max buyin of £20 (40 BBs)

this guy will call every bet or limp preflop. If checked to, he will bet £6 regardless of the size of the pot and does the same on turn and river. if checked to him he bets, if hes first to act he will bet. if shoved on, he will call super light and if it does go through the streets he will show 3rd pair just as likely he is to show 2 pair or above. he will call pot sized bets on any street with just one overcard.

he manages to call my bluffs but fold to my value bets.

if i wait for a hand I get blinded away, if i bet into him he can call a triple barrel bluff with any pair.
theres also the additional problem that theres another guy whos more of a calling station but will most likely be in every hand the super lag is in (its personal with those 2).

Any ideas on playing these guys?

Im thinking of shoving with top pair post flop to avoid the difficult decisions (its unlikely either of us will have more than 40bb) but theres the problem of the 3rd player or call him down light knowing that hes most likely bluffing or has as little as 3rd pair but if i get this wrong my whole 40bb stack can be gone in one hand.

what do you think i should do?

Look, very skilled lags can be very very difficult to deal with. No one sentence (or page or book for that matter) of advice will teach you how to beat them, if they're really good.

If what you're saying is true, yours is very easy to take advantage of then. Just play premiums- hit a flop- and check/call tilll he's broke.

Do not bluff this villain lol that's a recipe for disaster. Just be patient preflop, flop top pair/good kicker or better, then just check and let him fire. If calling station is in all those pots, that's fine too. Just make sure you have tptk or better

The best "value" you're gonna get from this villain is by checking to him and letting him barrel off at you.

Why are you being blinded away in a cash game?

This guy seems straightforward enough to play against provided you're willing to accept the high degree of variance that comes with playing big pots with small edges.

very good question. i can only afford 1 buyin.

im finding that Im being called by junk by 3 players in the hope of beating the kinds of hands i raise with.

the first 2 months I won £400 from a weekly buyin of £20. Ive not had a winning session for 4 months - the past 4 weeks ive been felted by a 3 outer on the river after turning top 2, Q2 calling my shove with 9s and hitting a queen, my flopped 2 pair beaten by a turned str8 and a flopped straight beating my runner-runner trip aces. (I had AK and the villian called my 5x raise with 67o OOP and flopped a str8). when youre playing so few hands that hurts.

im not getting the hands and when i do my opponents have a bigger hand. getting them to fold is impossible - every pot is 4 handed and im the only one who raises pre. I can even pinpoint the hand my luck changed all those months ago.

Its really doing my head in.

these players never fold and once one has called another 3 call - they love to call with junk to try to beat my big pairs and they love seeing flops. calling a reraise is MORE reason to stick around.

i think its a combination of bad luck and bad hands. after 4 hrs of play the other day my biggest ace was A9 and my biggest pocket pair was 9s. one guy had pocket kings 4 times. this has gone on for 4 months now.
