Well has been a week or two since I started cash games and started at 5nl and so far so standard. This week I both lost and gained a few buyins due to certain players using a limp/call play. Preflop I will raise after 3 or 4 people have limped with a decent holding, the standard pfr blus 1bb for each limper and sometimes someone will call then with the action going to them will limp every street. So of course I am thinking heh reraise no matter what and bump the raise up higher than I would usally cbet say 3/4 or pot size and they will just call off with anything.

I actually wish I had some HH here but I had pc issues and had to reboot (thing the ole puter on its last legs). So the result of these plays is that either the villian will call down with 3rd pair or something stupid or just keep calling with say Q high and give me all their chips (not as exciting as it sounds usally they are short stacked). So my question is as I have read here after my initial C-Bet do I carry on firing barrels or just call it quits because no matter how much I raise after every street they call. Is this my leak or theirs or both?

once you have tagged someone as a calling station, you need to value bet the hell out of them and you need to avoid bluffs completely, sometimes including avoid cbets.

This can be frustrating when you don't hit any hand, but there's no other way to exploit them.

In some cases, value betting the hell out of them may or may not include extracting several streets of value with TP bad kicker or even second pair.

Ok this rush poker so I guess the fact there is less available reads is hurting me (will be playing fr non rush from next week). It just seemed to keep happening and made me wonder what the hell people where thinking, obviouly sometimes they where chasing but the hands they would showdown with seriously make me wonder. Point taken though and it sounds like when I am settled into standad FR it should be easier to read peoples intentions.

Definately keep firing with all Value hands. The more marginal the hand the smaller the bet. Dont worry about being exploited at 5nl.

As far as making the turn and river cbets after a standard cbet. You should be thinking about board texture. If the board is draw heavy dont keep sticking money in on cbet bluffs. They will call. Now if the draws all miss, maybe take a stab. Or if the Draw completes and its checked to you again, maybe take a stab Take more shots when cards hit that can look like they improved your hand.

If you want AND since your a fellow merc. pm me your email addy. I can hook you up with some awesome reading material for the beginner Micro stakes Cash game player.

Sorry if this is hard to understand or seems rushed and kinda vague. Im playing in my summer league game, the CC invasion and the daily dollar.

GL Bud.

@Pascal- Indeed I agree 100%, the only reason I played rush was to unlock the chance at an end of year Ironman bonus which seemed to make sense at the time but this means that today will be my last day playing rush poker alone.

@PK- Well to a cash game noob 4 tabling rush was quite an experience let me tell you and playing different people each hand there was a few faces that kept popping up who I had some idea what they where about. In fact it was pretty easy to follow most plays but obviously at the speed your folding and at a new table reads are hard to come by especially since if you fold you dont get to see the results of a hand.

For example I saw a few people limp like I am saying pre and when I raise they would shove, the two people that I called can you guess what they had? It just made me confused the limp every street play, sometimes its not even like they are chasing anything decent, calling of you whole stack with A,K,Q high bottom pair etc. Basically I was trying to understand why they where doing it lol.

Thank you for the replies.

Also thanks Dark I will shoot you a pm later, I am currently reading a few things and next week will be at standard fullring which I am really looking forward too.

Maybe they read somewhere that "aggression" was the right play and that you miss the board most of the time.

Also, there are guys who will min. bet the river to "bluff" with 8 high.

Oops forgot bout this thread and yeah since coming of rush I have not seen it happen seems just to be either rush players knowing that if they limp they will get reraised (stupid to limp AA) or plain fishies not knowing any better. It was just very confusing to me at the time lol but in hindsight its quite simple, expect alot of these kind of basic threads from me!
