I won $80 in the freeroll on pokerhost last night, and I want to burn the money up. I have come to HATE sit n go tourneys, so I am playing some cash games. I noticed that no one really raises preflop, and I can pick up a lot of pot just by stabbing around at them. However, I am not accustomed to cash game play. Does anyone have any good tips for me?

Positional aggression is the only real tip I have. Plus watch the table you want to join for a couple rounds before ya join, so you can get a feel for what is going on. If you notice nobody is raising preflop watch to see what happens when someone does. If you have a bunch of calling stations you might get a bad beat or 2 but in the end they will be buying your dinner. :)

Patience and disipline, also at the low limits its a good idea to stay away from bluffing, someone nearly always calls.

Though if the table is playing really tight the positional bluff can work wonders on nolimit tables though be careful on limit tables

i ifnd it almost immposible to bluff on limit tables,, because as u said u cant scare them with a 50 bet when they have already called .. so i try to stay on the nl tables.. with a bit of perfectly timd bluffign when gettign low

Thanks everyone, but I lost all of it on one bad beat.

Four people were at the table, and the blinds were 2/4. Everyone limps in, and I raise ten dollars from the small blind with KQ spades. One person calls. I flop a straight. As Jd 10c. I raise, the other guy re-raises, and since I flopped the nuts and he is betting hard, I go all-in. He calls, and has KQ clubs. So I figure it's a split pot. Wrong! He got running clubs to make a flush, and I ended up putting a few dents in my monitor. Oh well, the money was free. Gotta love this game.

dont feel too bad russ...cause if you didnt ahve a deposit in there b4 you won the money you would have had to play 400 raked hands at $1 or higher tables and that means seeing the flop to be counted as a raked hand not just dealt cards.

Ehh, the money wasn't important. I just like playing with real money because the play is much better.

Don't play too high blinds. It's hard to get over 300$ but u can easily get cought when trying higher blinds than u have Bank roll for. So therefore start easy and make a BR on App. 300 before going 2/4

my best advice play within your bankroll. Alot of players try and sit at 5/10 nl tables with the minimum, but all they are doing is setting themselves up for disaster. At bigger limits you will find some ppl will just stay in the hand cuz "hey if i lose 100-150 $ who cares"

Thats why i never like joining a table for the minimum, it feels like your shortstacked and cant play aggressive

get in a hand with an agressive player and let him pat you out. play top hands only unless you are in bb or sb.

i agree with the above poster raise with the goods and or position..try not to bluff unless you have a really really good idea that the person you are bluffing is weak,,and try not to chase straight.flush draws unless its multi way and you are getting good odds on your call...in cash games i consider mnyself tight aggressive

Real Money

Like any gambling, Dont play unless you can afford to lose!!!!! Eventually you will lose. How much who knows. Even the pros lose.:)
