First of all I want to say what a fantastic book it is. I really love reading it. Just finished Volume 1 and started Volume 2. I find the advice really prudent and still very relevant.

Some of his advice seems directed more toward Live play, as he likes to mix up his play a good bit. Which is fantastic of course. But with online Multitabling people don't pay that much attention. With exception of 6max, there I would be much more deceptive then in my FL environment. Some deception is still required of course.

Anyway, besides the point in terms of my question. Which is...

I noticed, perhaps I have misread it or misunderstood it, that he is giving a conflicting advice between Vol 1 and Vol 2 on now to handle sets.

In volume 1 he kinda says (we are talking IP facing aggression) mainly call the Flop, or even check if he checks.

In volume 2, however, he recommends raising his Flop bet, be it Cbet or not. Stating if he has it it will be more profitable than is he doesn't.

I was just wondering has anyone read it? What are your thoughts on that. Thanks.

I was almost going to get this one last weekend at the bookstore but I didn't like one of the reviews. Its so hard to trust amazon reviews on poker books because so many people go write a negative review if the book doesn't automatically print money.

Working on Caro's most profitable holdem advice. I'll probly read Harrington next

It's really good! So worth it. I read some if the reviews saying "it's outdated or something". Don't believe it. A must-read. I find it a good combo with CTM. However, CTM had an impact on me to be overly aggressive, especially with TPTK, I lost a lot of of money on that. CTM will also have you playing Suited Connectors in unopened pots like premium Broadways, maybe it was me and the way I read it. But Harrington has helped me to improve it tame little bit, but still remain aggressive with some Pot control.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid books that recommend loose play. Over the last few years poker players as a whole play much tighter. What we consider loose play now is what they probably would have considered tight ten years ago. That's probably the biggest reason books have become outdated so quickly, but I think most of the concepts are the same.

Yeah. Well CTM is not advocating looseness per SE, but aggression big time and pretty much ABC poker, lots of Cbetting. Very 17/15/6/ sort of play. Nothing wrong with that. But it needs bit of fine tuning. Deffo a good book to read. If you have a good recommendation of a book throw it in here.

The only other book I read was Arnold Snyder's poker tournament formula. But that was years ago and I don't play MTTs and don't have access to SnGs.. Great book though for a tournament player. Focuses on how the different stages of a tournament affect the way you play. Not recommended for cash game though
