Hi,

Ive recently been focusing on my cash game play. Now Ive read the Harrington Tourney books and they where awesome. Im looking for some reading material on Cash Games. At the moment I'm torn between Harringtons Volume 1 and 2 on Cash games, or his newer one, the Online 6 Max book.

Ive read that the new one contains pretty much the same info, but would like some opinions on which will be the better investment.

Cheers,
Marc

If you really want to get good, then try to find some stuff that apply to the stakes and games that you're playing. Most books contain stuff that just doesn't apply anywhere under the higher stakes.

Browse the internet for some articles. The best place to start ? --> The golden archive of course.

Why does it have to be a book? Why does it have to cost money?

What exactly did you play last time you played? Google that and start sifting!!!!

You need to find information on the exact games/stakes you are playing from people who have actually played those games/stakes RECENTLY!!

I'm not telling to not buy a book, especially a harrington book. He obviously knows what he's doing. Just trying to get you to think outside the box. But I can garauntee you Dan Harrington has not played the types of games you are playing for a very long time. When you get to that level it is just a totally different game.

There probably will be some information in those books that you can apply to your game, but not nearly as much as you can get from people on sites like this. I promise you.

Wrung and HamBone, read the product description, or even the other post, both of which show that it isn't the type of book you're thinking it is. It isn't talking about 1000NL-50000NL, it is talking about micro stakes and small stakes. I have the book and have read it and can attest to the fact that it is not about those large stakes.

Product Description:
No-limit hold em was once a game played almost exclusively in casinos. But during the last decade, the game s growth has been fueled in part by the easy availability of online playing sites where participants can play cash games and tournaments 24 hours a day, every day.
In Harrington on Online Cash Games, Dan Harrington shows you the key ideas and skills that will let you master the online poker world which differs in some significant ways from the world of casino games. You ll learn how to handle different stack sizes, how to play at 6-max tables, how to deal with increased levels of aggression, and how to use the poker databases and heads-up displays that give you unprecedented information on your opponent s tendencies. Harrington lays out detailed strategies for preflop and post-flop play in both the popular micro-stakes games and the more difficult small-stakes games. If you play online poker or you re looking to get started, you ll need to read this book.
Dan Harrington won the gold bracelet and the World Champion title at the $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold em Championship at the 1995 world series of poker. And he was the only player to make the final table in 2003 (field of 839) and 2004 (field of 2,576) considered by cognoscenti to be the greatest accomplishment in wsop history. In Harrington on Online Cash Games, Harrington and two-time World Backgammon Champion Bill Robertie have written the definitive books on no-limit cash games in the online world. This books will teach you what you need to know to be a winner playing on the Internet.

Ok, your right I did absolutely 0 research on this book. And still haven't. So in light of you setting me straight, IF it really is what you say it is, I will PARTIALLY retract what I said. I will retract specifically these 2 sentences.

But I can garauntee you Dan Harrington has not played the types of games you are playing for a very long time. When you get to that level it is just a totally different game.

The rest of my post I will still stand behind. Like I said I was not bashing Harrington. Not at all did I ever think it would be a bad investment.I still firmly believe that He will find way more helpful info surfing the internet and talking to people who are currently playing the same games he is. I don't care how good the book is or whats in it. It is still just 1 book and there is just WAY too much free information out there on the internet. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO FIND IT!!!!!

The reason I'm after a book is for when I'm at work, I do most of my research and learning off of the internet when Im at home, but I find that I prefer reading the books when Im at work.
