I have the two harrington on cash games books as well as harrington on online games. I want to know which I should read first, the cash games volumes or the online book?
prefer answer by someone who has read them specifically.

Well if you are gonna play online read the online first:rolleyes:. For real that's the only one I have read and although it covers mainly 6max, it is easy to adjust to FR if that is your liking. It covers HUD use, multi-tabling, and everything else you need to know from the micros up to mid stakes. Everything in this book is available right here in this forum though. Nothing really new just very well arranged IMO.

As for other Harrington cash haven't read them.

If you have all three and those are all you're really willing to choose from to read, I would read the online one first and leave the other two alone for a long time, they are more geared toward live higher limit cash games.

Author Biography - Dan Harrington

Dan Harrington began playing poker professionally in 1982. On the circuit he is known as "Action Dan" an ironic reference to his solid but effective style. He has won several major no-limit hold 'em tournaments including the European Poker Championships (1995), the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em event at the 1995 world series of poker, and the Four Queens No-Limit Hold 'em Championship (1996).
Dan began his serious games-playing with chess, where he quickly became a master and one of the strongest players in the New England area. In 1972 he won the Massachusetts Chess Championship, ahead of most of the top players in the area. In 1976 he started playing backgammon, a game which he also quickly mastered. He was soon one of the top money players in the Boston area, and in 1981 he won the World Cup of Backgammon in Washington D.C., ahead of a field that included most of the world's top players.
He first played in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold 'em Championship Event of the World Series of Poker in 1987. He has played in the Championship a total of 16 times and has reached the final table in four of those tournaments, an amazing record. Besides winning the World Championship in 1995, he finished sixth in 1987, third in 2003, and fourth in 2004.

That's kinda off topic but thanks for copy and pasted intro to all of his books though, lol.

Gotta start posting with something, eh? Looking forward to reading your own words.

I guess be aware of what you are committing to play. If you are doing full ring cash online then this might change things. As mentioned, the online play book is geared to 6-max and that's a bit looser game than you will probably want to execute in full ring.

As mentioned the other two are geared more toward higher stakes live cash. Just go with online 6-max if playing online then he tells you how to adjust to 9-max. If you can play 6-max you can slaughter 9-max.

Don't go telling OP to be reading the two more advanced books even if he is playing 9-max. It is just too easy to adjust and online book is actually one book(unlike other Harrington Books:)).

I had just did the opposite. I had received his cash games Vol 1 and II first, and loved them both. Then found out about the 6 man book..I found alot of his concepts were the same in all 3 books and I love all 3 of them. The bottom line is all 3 have helped me in the cash game. Good luck in your poker endevors.

Does the Harrington cash game books and his online book contain all the same info? Because if that is the case I'm considering exchanging the 2 cash game books for his 3 tournament books. Is it worth having and reading all of them? or is it ok to pick and choose some over others? Please advise. Also, any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks
p.s. I currently play cash games live and online. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting involved in tournaments in the future though.

I think unless you are gonna play mid-high stakes cash whether online, live or both than get HOH 1 and 2. Most of the info to beat micro-low stakes 6-max and FR is in the one online book. That's if ya want to play MTT's. And they are kinda dated but most info is still somewhat relevant. The very first poker books I ever read and they changed me from losing to slightly good player. Most people consider HOH 1 and 2 the Bibles of poker and I'm sure that was true in 2005. Still lots of good tourney info in these books and are a must read IMO.

prefer answer by someone who has read them specifically.

Im working my way through the H.O.H tournament strategy book at the moment and think it's great to be honest, though i'm no expert. There's good reading if you're a novice like me, and some interesting topics includeing "observing yourself", or table image, something i'd never even thought about before. I would recommend it so far, as a foundation for general play. I'm hoping to see some real improvements by the time i'm finished volume 2 !

Some people are saying the books are dated now, so i'd be interested on what books are now considered "cutting edge"?

With insight from a seasoned pro like Dan Harrington, in my opinion you're bound to find something you can add to your game:)

Well I picked them up on amazon uk,they have a decent range of poker books and sometimes free shipping.I prefer to think that Honor truly died some point between In Enemy hands and Echos of Honor.I think the Harrington books are good for live play, but online is just such a completely different animal with multi-tabling, mass-tabling, and HUDs or stat-trackers.

I just read in Poker Pro - I think it was Eric Lynch - that the best follow ups to Harrington's tournament triology to update tactics and strategy was his "Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand at a Time" (nice ipad App, BTW) and "Kill Phil". He did not mention Kill Elky or Kill Everyone, but I gotta figure they are probably in the mix too.
He still confirmed Harrington as the essential work of which all the others are derivative (not to say they are not worthwhile).
In other words, don't skip or jump over Harrington.

I gotta guess Dusty Schmidts "Don't Listen to Phil Hellmuth: Correcting The 50 Worst Pieces Of Poker Advice You’ve Ever Heard" updates and corrects more classic strategies.

Probably would not sell as many copies if it was "Don't Listen to Dan Harrington"

I have not read it, but just ordered it off Dusty's site as he has slashed his prices by 30% on his site for the month of March (to honor his 30th b-day)
