1. History before the hand with opponent?

2. Why this masterpiece actually worked.

3. What happened afterwards :)

Anyways have some fun with it and explain all... It'll be fun reading some stories while I'm taking a break playing.

No history with this guy

Hero (UTG+1): 92 BB
MP: 34.2 BB
MP+1: 147.8 BB
MP+2: 168.6 BB
CO: 55.4 BB
BTN: 335.2 BB
SB: 84.2 BB
BB: 46.6 BB
UTG: 51.4 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has J♠ T♠

fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, SB calls 2.6 BB, BB calls 2 BB

Flop: (9 BB, 3 players) K♣ 7♣ 5♥
SB bets 5 BB, fold, Hero raises to 13 BB, SB calls 8 BB

When he donks flop and calls raise I put him on draws, probably flush.

Turn: (35 BB, 2 players) 8♥
SB checks, Hero bets 27 BB, SB calls 27 BB

Since this is a blank and I know he is weak so I fire a 2nd barrel.

River: (89 BB, 2 players) A♥
SB bets 41.2 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 41.2 BB

This bet got me pretty mad because it basically confirms he has a busted draw but is that busted draw better than my J high? If he had an A high draw I doubt he would jam river since he probably has no kicker. Qx draws are possible but unlikely since the only combos of Qx suited I could think of would be QJs or Q10s. The biggest hand I fear him having is a hand like 56cc but other than that I think my J high is good so I call and he turns up 63ss, yes 63 of spades o_O and I take down the pot and it sets up this hand.

Hero (BTN): 166.8 BB
SB: 33.2 BB
BB: 147.8 BB
UTG: 185.8 BB
UTG+1: 55.4 BB
MP: 327.2 BB
MP+1: 97 BB
MP+2: 42.2 BB
CO: 50.4 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has J♦ A♥

fold, UTG+1 calls 1 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 4 BB, fold, fold, UTG+1 calls 3 BB

Preflop is pretty standard, this is the same table as the last hand about 5-10 hands later against a different villain who saw the J high river call.

Flop: (9.4 BB, 2 players) Q♣ 9♦ 4♠
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets 5.4 BB, UTG+1 calls 5.4 BB

Standard Cbet and he hands on, I put him on Qx here and not much else since there is pretty much 0 draws besides J10, I suppose a set is possible.

Turn: (20.2 BB, 2 players) A♣
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks

Now I hit my top pair but I chose to check because nothing I am beating is calling me here, atleast not often and there is really no draws on board.

River: (20.2 BB, 2 players) 2♥
UTG+1 bets 20 BB, fold

Villain donks out a pot sized bet and I think, this guy just saw me make a river call with J high, there is no way he is bluffing here and my top pair is no good, so I fold. Villain had A9o for two pair.

Wow. The second hand I could have laid it down. But the first hand - calling with Jack high... that's a heck of a read. Given time to think about it, mull it over a while, yeah, what's shoving the river that isn't a bluff? Maybe a set of 7s or a set of 5s would play it this way, but really that's like 6 hands of strong stuff, a couple weird "I have a pair and think I'm beat and want the pot so I'm going to bluff at it"s, and oodles of noodles of busted draws. So yeah, given time to reflect, ok, I can dig it. But in the moment, you're looking down at Jack high. Yeeeeeesh. Nice call!

Yeah that J high is really really awesome play :)

I will never look at picture highs the same way ever again. and theres something in it for everyone reading your description. Your a force to recon with geezus.

When I try and make hero calls.. I normally regret it. Though in the past I have called and closed my eyes and to my surprise I have won a few really weird hands but only by chance or by saying f*it lets do it.
