Facing a standard raise and you look down at A2-A10 in the small or big blind. Do you play these hands?

Your question is very general. Are you asking about a regular speed tourney , a turbo or a hyper? How many blinds do you have? Is the Ax suited or no? Has the A also a potential for a straight or no?Is the initial opener a tight or a loose player?

Some times you can lose many chips by defending an A and keep calling with a weak kicker because of an A of the board.

For a cash game, with no information on villain.......

from the BB, you call the majority of the time, raising with ATo+ or AXs

from the SB, you can raise any AXs as you block AA combinations or fold, never calling because you are forced to play out of position. Sometimes you can call if several callers behind you. ATo+ you can raise or fold from SB as well.

when you have info on villain, you can decide if you want to 3-bet wider or not
