Hello everyone, another interesting hand open for review
UTG opens pot 2.5x BB, cutoff 3-bet to 8.5x BB, button 4-bets to 18.5x BB... You're in the SB and look down at A/K of hearts.
*you have no history and are playing a game where everybody is sitting on 300+ BB's
Q: What do you do? ( Your stack is 200 BB's)
Fold like a nit.
Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand
Just like that river twisting through a dusty land
This is what should be playing on your internal sound track.
Think about this: the #1 hole opens. Unless he just happened to pick the wrong time to put one over, you have to respect that open, but he got no respect. The CO isn't stealing here, and the BTN damn sure isn't. You can be sure someone's got a pocket pair, and a Big Slick is a 'dog to any pocket pair. At best, CO had something like ( A, broadway) BTN has a Big Slick, and if you call, you're probably splitting.
You're badly OOP here, so how are you going to make any money here? If you flop a flush, straight, two pair, or trips, those flops are going to look very threatening. If you check, they'll check behind and you lose a street of value. If you lead out, they'll find that fold button pretty quickum.
What if you flop TPTK? The only way you're getting action is if you're beat. You're risking 18.5XBB to win the least or lose the most.
It gets even worse: your 18.5XBB call isn't closing the action. What do you do if the CO or BTN jams? You've just given away 18.5XBB for absolutely nothing. If you call off the rest of your stack, then you're
really donating. You're either flipping if BTN shows up with pocket queens, and you're crushed if he has pocket aces or kings.
Avoid RIO situations like the plague.
