I have been playing a bit more lately. (Had some family/personal issues and they kept me from poker since around a month now) but am back to playing again.

My major focus is hand reading. I get involved in a hand, and when it gets to SD, I am surprised way too often. I pay attention, I (try to) analyze the streets, I narrow opponents ranges as we go, and am not doing all that good......

I read, I study, I do exercises, but my hand reading skills are still mediocre at best. (Micro stakes).

So I have now made this my no. 1 priority. I MUST be able to hand read better.

I have played maybe 100K since Feb. and am pretty discouraged at my result. Losing a lot of pots, and it must come down to my hand reading skills (lack of)
I feel I am understanding more and more, but I am spinning my wheels in the same ruts..... And I think it must come down to reading players.... or not, as may be my case....

I also have a HARD time trusting my analysis...... I think "I am beat" and call cause I dont want to be bluffed, or I say " I am ahead" and bet small in case I am being trapped..... I lose value or value call myself... way too much....

So, my point::: HAND READING

I think if I get better at this, the next level is in reach......... and even tho I think I know, I seem to ... uhh.... not....

I am doing different exercises to get better, but welcome any and all new ideas....

How many tables are you playing and are you taking notes?

Whenever you're surprised by a hand, note it so you're not surprised the next time.

6- 8 Tables. was down to 4 and am thinking of cutting back to 4 again, purely because of this.

I take notes, but with 6 + tables, I take them a lot after the session. But I am especially interested in hands, like I 3 bet with a premium -say KK- and flop comes something like 9 7 2 RB, he checks, I c bet here always, and if I am called by a TAGGY player, I am lost " He hit his set, or is he is bluffing me"

I had a situation like above, and he hit his set, and c/c me till the river, and then on another table I had a similar situation, and he c/c me with air...... And in both cases I am NOT reading right.....

Try playing some Micro HU. I think this is probably the single most thing that has helped me with hand reading. The fact that you play so many different people and you have to really learn to hand read and because you see so many SDs and you generally 1 table you get so much better at it.

Well assuming 100bb stacks and a decent sized 3-bet you should never worry about sets in those spots. They don't matter. In fact your opponent is losing money every time he calls to set mine there even if you stack off 100% of the times he hits postflop!

No hand reading required. Just keep betting.
