My question on this hand is i figured the other guy has 2 over cards and hit an ace. i have a flush draw and he way over bets the pot. in my mind im thinking ok so he has Ak or AK or AJ. i know if i dont make my draw then i just paid this guy a huge bet. I get that gut feeling to make the call and what do you know i diamond hits. My question is i was thinking implied odds here and that i could get this guy to pay me off the right play or should i have folded?

That's a crazy bet. Maybe he's got KQ or 88 type of hands. He wants you to fold. Doubtful anyone competent is stupid enough to overbet like that with a strong hand.

I would fold it. Only 7 cents committed. Wait for better spot. If you call a huge bet like that, you've basically told him you have a strong hand and you'll have a hard time to take his stack. That's why he checks the turn.

Who said he was competent?I had someone hugely over-bet a flop where he had a full house!Problem is I had a set and your kind of thinking so I called...losing :(. (people can be complete douchebags sometimes)

Well you aren't going to fold a set just cuz he bets big on the flop are ya? If it was me, I'd do a little thank you dance before shoving.

It's just bad luck he happened to hit his FH.

I hate hitting a med set and villain bets you call board safe turn same thing over again river same thing nothing on the board your thinking 2 pair villain bets you shove just to find out he hit a set higher than yours and you just got trapped. lol but hey it happens right.

Ugh. You call a GIGANTIC bet with near 1:1 odds a non nut nine card draw and then don't get ANY money in on the turn when your draw hits and then value bet the river high enough that you'll fold most anything besides the ace of diamonds.

Now, in general, is this call worth it if you play well after the flop, and/or your opponent breathes through gills? Not with these stacks IMO. You should wait for a better spot. In fact, I would be very dubious about a call even if you were both deep. The only other option is a big stack committing raise, and I don't really like that either.

One other criticism/suggestion: ;)

Im with cAPSLOCK here. I dont see the implied odds. Our draw is not the nuts, and when we hit we check? We need to bet the turn because the diamond may have already killed our action and the river diamond definitely sucks for us.

Why were you in the hand ?

You have a 1 in 16 chance of making your flush, it's only jack high, you have a raiser, and worser you a caller who had nothing invested prior to calling the raise. Then you call the raise ?? Unless the other players are just dumb, and even then you have to get lucky, why are you in this hand at all?? Just asking, LOL
