Seems all the cool kids have a thread so gonna make this one instead of cluttering the monthly thread all the time. I'm taking it easy really working on my game/just trying to make supernova this year (25k vpps away so should be ez) and then next year will be looking to make a supernova elite run. I'll be posting interesting hands, probably some music, probably some random drunk posts. I'm still unsure of if I'll be posting my $ won or not. Will definitely be updating my vpp count next year.

Sorta on that note, most of you know who I am, I don't really want this searchable to my non-poker friends. Don't really care if you wanna call me Zach or something but please refrain from typing my Stars screen name anywhere in this thread.

Anyway, gonna start the year at 200nl zoom I think. I've been having solid success there and it seems to be relatively low-variance income, and even with a small winrate sne is in the 150-200k range for the year (it's like 108k I think in itself and then every bb/100 is another 50k). But honestly it's just gonna depend on how well I'm doing and how I'm feeling about my game as to whether I play higher regularly.

But at 200nl sne is a ton of hands. It's ~2.5 million hands for the year which is over 200k/month. I've done some work and I think my best approach is going to be like this: I'm going to play ~25 days/month, this gives me some days off or if I fall behind can just use those days as buffers. I'm also planning on making myself a schedule and sticking to it. At 25 days/month I'll need to play roughly 8.5k hands/day that I play. I get around 1k hands/hour so this means that the days I'm working I need to play a bit over 8 hours. I realize that poker is more demanding than most jobs but there are a ton of people who work that long (and usually more with commute). I'm a full-time poker pro, it shouldn't be that hard to put in full-time hours. I figure something like 3 sessions ~3k hands each should be good. Make sure to mix exercise in and make sure to eat healthy meals.

Gonna be a challenge but I'm excited.

Massive grind ahead Zach, good luck with it. Make sure that you schedule a few full weeks off.

Gl man, thats a shiiiiitloads of hours playing, have to admire those who can do it, and end in profit as well. If i`d played for 8 hours multi-tabling, i would be multi-losing!

I'm still so sick of live poker and especially mtts, plus the games weren't even that good this year, because pretty much every poker pro is in Vegas during that time and that more than makes up for the few extra fish. The amount of 1500's I played with literally no fish was pretty amazing compared to previous years, and compared to even recent similar buy-in circuit events. I played in some relatively soft 10/25nl cash games, but again I get into a situation where my hourly is barely higher than just 4-tabling 200nl zoom and I'm having to deal with 5-figure swings on the regular. So I could play games with a lower hourly, sky-high variance, and in an environment I can't stand, or I can just stick with online cash games where I can grind out a solid income. I'll probably go a few days to a week for the main but no way in hell am I doing another full mtt schedule.

Oh also forgot to mention I play a bit of HU so probably will try to play some of that where the vpp rate is a lot higher (200nl 6m zoom I get .4ish and 200nl HU I'm getting .7ish and it's roughly the same hands/hour and 400nl HU I'm getting over 1)

I just noticed they added like 5/10, 10/25, and 25/50 zoom.

This obviously is the challenge of all challenge of all challenges. With the dedication that it's obvious you have it could certainly be achievable although as CafeMan said it will be a Grind and a half.

I look forward to seeing the progress, and as you said its a challenge in the new year to reach SNE so I think updates of VPP accumulation would be neat.

Good Luck with it.

Are you doing this more for the added bonuses/money or as a challenge to yourself?

Either way gl!

Good luck! this sounds like a super sick challenge. I've always known what SNE was but never realized the time you had to put in to achieve such a feat. I really hope you get it! Keep us updated

Cool this should be good.
I'll be hacking away at your posts. ;)
I'm sure you know me well enough by now to know it's to fish out more information on a better player than myself's thought process rather than sincere criticism.

This the first Cardschat SNE shot?
Good luck.

I'll definitely be keeping a vpp tally here. The thing with $ is like I had a rl friend find on google my mtt results and I had an 86k score (although I had sold action, lost other tourneys in the summer, taxes, etc. but it's still a lot for someone still in college) and it was just kinda awkward. I make it a policy to never talk about money amounts with people who don't play poker, it just never ends well. So I'm leaning towards including it here since I don't see how non-poker friends would ever find this but yeah hopefully you understand. Poker players see money won as points and success, while non-poker players a lot of the time see it as the money so it's either "omgomg you lost thousands of dollars call gambler's anonymous" or "omgomg you won thousands of dollars can I have some?"

It's actually a bit of both, I went for sne pre-BF I think 4 years ago? There was no way I should have tried it I was a breakeven 100/200nl reg with a terrible mental approach to the game. My mental game has grown leaps and bounds better since then and my poker skills have as well. So part of me I think wants to prove I can do it.

But for the most part it's the money. I'm still doing fine compared to most recent college graduates but I spent the last few years paying tuition and not winning a ton from poker. So giving myself a solid cushion is also a pretty big priority. I don't expect poker to be profitable for that much longer so I'd like to milk what I can from it and give myself as big a cushion as possible before moving on to whatever I do after.

gl obviously. Seems like a lot of poker hours. I know you're good enough to do it as long as you don't give it up to just have more time for other stuff.
