I'm a live MTT player thinking of taking a break from MTT & trying cash.

Local casino has a $1/$2 cash tables w/a minimum buy-in of $60 & I think the max is $300.

What's a good amount of money to start with? I can't be dropping $300 at a time.

I tried ACR a few months back & it seemed rigged to me. I prefer live.

Maybe there is a better site to play at?

You could try bovada it has an anonymous system, as for live it doesn't sound like you have the bankroll to support playing it. I would suggest at least 4500 and feel better about 6k you should always be buying in for maximum if you feel your better then your opponents.

You should be buying into the 1/2 game for 200 and if you plan on taking it serious having about $4k set aside for a bankroll. Don't buy in for less than $100, that's just stupid.

If you are deciding to play this game, you are basically saying you feel you have an edge over your opponents, therefore, you want to buy in for the maximum possible to allow your weaker opponents to make the biggest possible mistakes.. And yes, you should have approx 20 buy ins in your bankroll for this game..

Hope this helps

Cool, but I still won't give them anymore money. Maybe I'll try another site.
dude, you're just gonna think every site is rigged because you see so many hands that the most statistically ridiculous stuff will keep happening to you, vastly more often than it does live (like, my last cash session I got it in on the flop with the NF vs a pair + middle FD, and the ****er drew a runner-runner boat). NONE of them are actually rigged.

Just wondering Why the sites could not be rigged?
How can we be 100% sure

I believe if the sites were truly rigged then someone would know about it. Too many hands in the pot so I think it would be quite difficult to rigged the game all the time. IT would not be profitable and members would start leaving for other rooms.

Because they've been confirmed through testing to not be rigged. At least, all of the major poker networks sans iPoker have been conclusively found to have zero riggedness about them.

You always want to buy in for max. Others will, so when you do get your hand, you need to maximize your earnings.

Play good poker, and stand up if your loosing.

Crisbiazus, I am just wondering why are you coping someone else's post word for word? LOL! I mean it's not like it's obvious, being on the same page of the same thread. Just be original bro, that's all I'm saying. That's just thread spam, and I don't think they tolerate that to much here.

It isn't.
I've played way more online than live but, they almost seem like 2 totally different games.
OLP is way faster and ABC play is 99% of the game. Live is obviously slower but you have so much more information about your opponents and their play styles so you can leave the ABC path & still be profitable.

You can do that online. You more or less have to at the higher levels (above NL25), in fact. To do that, you have to use a HUD.

I agree if you feel the opponents will be considered less skilled then you are then buy in for the max and take advantage of the situation. If you are not comfortable with the risk of loosing 300 then the stake is probably to high to play at. You want to play at a level where you are playing comfortable and not scared.

The bigger your BR is the better, can't be like "if I lose this hand I can't pay rent" lol but in all seriousness 1-2NL BR should be $20k (being realistic) (ideal)

If the proper BR for $1/2 NL was $20k very few would be playing and/or lots of people would not be paying their mortgage.

I've actually had a very long discussion recently with a friend of mine about this, a high-stakes HUNL reg. His thoughts: You need 40 BIs for HU, 30 BIs for 6max, and 20 BIs for FR, regardless of whether you play full-time or recreationally, because if you lose more than that then that's more than just variance. It means there is something seriously wrong with your game, and you need to take a break and reevaluate.

Of course if you play full time you need more money than that because you need a liferoll to handle drought periods, but that money goes completely separate from your poker roll. Like for instance, if you're playing 2/5 live for a living and your monthly income allowance (gotta set some $$$ aside to put back into BR) is $2,000, then you should have at least $12,000 set aside as a liferoll, and THEN 20 BIs at 2/5 (that would be $10,000). So your combined roll would be something like $25k.

I would say have 4k set aside, always buy in 200 if you are at a 1/2 players may try and run you over but this could be a good thing, if you try and have a tight image at the table for a bit. It could possibly work in your favour and or against you though. don't try and have a 500 bank roll you may see it go fast
