Get a 60 day free trial of pokertracker or holdem manager software, which is useful for identifying fish, who usually play loose-passive and the regs, who usually play tight-aggressive. It's also very useful for analyzing your own play and reviewing hands.

But you can easily identify fish without software, they often limp into pots, have shit hands at showdown, make silly sized bets (min-raising or massively over-betting) etc etc.

Table select to try and get the nits to your left and the fish sitting on your right.

If you aren't beating 2nl then you probably have serious flaws in your own game, like not being aware of position and table dynamics, playing too passively and being crap at hand reading. Best thing you can do is review your sessions, read up on cash game strategy, post hands you are unsure about for feedback and keep playing!

Good luck

If you're not beating 2nl, it's not just probable that you have weaknesses in your game; it's a certainty. The sooner you accept that the main reasons you're not winning are internal and not external, the better.

Frankly, it doesn't take much game to win at this level. People throw so much money around by making poor and mediocre plays that all you have to do is to throw back less than you catch.

And look at the big picture. Sure, you'll have some sessions where you t get little action or most of your good hands get coolered. But realistically, these sessions are anomalies. Part of the reason fish are fish is that they pay off more than they should.

play on bovada until you improve your game....all the poker trackers and "rounders" make it seem like you're playing with your cards face up....

No such thing as a rounder at 2nl, lol. TBH, the vast majority of players at 2NL are terrible poker players. Some might be "better" than others, but still, on the grand scale, they are bad poker players.

Stars has the best game selection you can ask for in these days, so if you can't find a game there, you won't find one anywhere.

If someone open limps, bad player. Overplay low pairs to river, bad player. Doesn't have 100BBs in stack, fish. Very easy things to look for that you will see in the first couple hands, if not before you even sit down.

Maybe check out BlackRain79's book or videos. They are geared towards those stakes, and he crushes them. I've recommended leakbuster a few times already, but it has helped me a bunch. I'm not really that good myself, and seem to find myself making alot of mistakes. but i'm trying to be more active on the forums, and get used to talking poker with people. So maybe post some hands, and i'm gonna try and do the same.

Read my starting hand selection and general pre flop gameplay guide for 2NL in the "paying the bills from 2NL 6max winnings" in the brags beats and challenges section
