Getting more out of the Hand Analysis Section

Hi guys,

I have been thinking, I think a good way to learn more from the hand analysis section is to read the hand, from the initial post, then try to write a response yourself without reading any other responses. This way we can try to think critically about other situations without peer influence. (Also this explains if I make any super bad analysis advice at first!)

What do you guys think?

PS. Since this applies to tourney and cash game hand analysis, maybe should have been in general poker section?

Yeh, it's been said before and I think it's true, however I still read the replies so I'm not the 15th guy saying the exact same thing. Post count doesn't matter to me... And also a lot of times some bad advice needs addressing.

Perhaps form an opinion first, read the other replies, then reply yourself if there's anything to add?

I always try and answer the OP before I've read replies in the HA section. It helps me think it through on my own without influence and makes me feel better about my replies. I'll then read through and if a discussion has altered my view point or I feel I can add to it through agreeing or disagreeing then I'll post again. I'm not afraid of double posting, WV can't touch me.

I mean I guess a good idea would be to make sure you have a well formed opinion (maybe even write it out?) and then check to be sure it hadnt been clearly said before.

I agree with the last few posters... why not write your response without reading any replies and than post, and add an edit if your opinion changes or just don't post until you have read the replies and than change your original answer and make the post official.

Two good points:

It will definitely be a better personal exercise to work out the hand before reading the responses.

It will be annoying to read you saying the same thing 12 other posters did.

So work the hand out - read the posts - then to really stretch your chops, come up with something new to post. Or just quote and agree (or argue your point).


So if you make the thread about you and your learning, isn't that hijacking the OP who presumably posted for him and his learning? (nice English)
