I know this is kinda noobish and I also understand that this can change for alot of people, but I think that one of my biggest problems (and that of many beginning players) is sitting down at the computer not exactly prepared to play "A game poker". i'm sure alot of veterans out there dont have this problem haha but I finally found something that works for me.

Every time before I get ready to play, I read a key paragraph or chapter out of Harrington on Holdem: Cash Games. I know it's probably not going to have a huge effect on my game that close to playing, but it helps me get in the mindset to play poker.

Just my thoughts on this, thats all, and I understand that most veterans probably already have some sort of routine. I think this is so huge in cash games, due to the fact that you can win/lose so much so fast

What you can also do before and after you play is to go over hand histories to see where you were making mistakes in the previous session. It helps warm you up and keeps you focused on what leaks need to be taken care.

Personally, I don't have a routine. I just check the lobby, find a good game, sit and hope I earn some good rakeback.

It really comes down to whatever works for you. If Harrington gets you in the groove, then by all means, do what you got to do.

Clearly...

"Famous Last Words" by My Chemical Romance.

And when I'm driving to the casino at night, on a near empty freeway in CA, you can't go wrong with "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse.

If I start finding myself losing interest/getting bored/tilting, I do a giant line off a hooker.

But I'm in the red online, and in the black live. So, science that one out for me.

Also, I've never done a line. Of anything. Except maybe the Conga. But I think I have more sense than that.

I did fail at line dancing once when I was obliterated at dollar beer night.

really like this idea. i used to read a old poker book giving common sense advice on how to play tourns but it wasnt something like a lot of tourn books today giving specific hand advice.

my fav from the book was "avoid late confrontations with big stacks".

but yeah reading ur fav book that puts u in the right mind set helps.

nice posting
