I play micro stakes 2NL and have only played full ring since I started. I was wondering what is best for future success and maybe also future convenience.

I have heard someone say that you get more practice out of 6 max because you play more hands, what do you guys think about that?

More importanly, what seems to be general number (6 or FR) people end up playing most, or is there such a number? Is there a table size/number that would be better than the other to start with or is it only down to personal preference?

Just some questions that I hope to get some useful answers to

Before when i first started i hated playing 6max. i use to think that it was more harder back then so i would always stick to 9hand like i was use to. as time went on, i got better and found it more comfortable at 6max due to position and L.a.g. plays/bluffs. 6max people will always raise more and bluff more often out of position.

Thanks for answer...

It's not either / or. After you play 6max enough to appreciate the differences, you can play whichever better suits your mood at a given moment.

I don't think one is better than the other, but if you choose FR you'll have to seat on more tables than the SH as the action decreases and there is more chances that someone gets a better hand

Questionable question

I play micro stakes 2NL and have only played full ring since I started. I was wondering what is best for future success and maybe also future convenience.

I think the question you ask here is incorrect in itself.
It is not like one should play 6 max for more success and 9 max is less succesful (or the other way round). If you play well you can be successful at both. Amount of success or failure depends on the player not the table player limit.

Of course to play at both tables you have to adjust as the dynamics of both tables are completely different. Also it is not like one is less convenient than the other. It is a matter of preference rather than convenience.

I think that either FR or 6max is better, but the other is far worse. I mean a lot worse.

If you pick that one, you will probably lose at poker forever. This is a critical stage in your development. I mean you don't see pro's playing that game, so make sure you don't play the other one.

I think its that big of a deal.

You say that both are better. Then which other one are you referring to ? zoom ?
And how can anyone lose at poker forever. It's not always a skill game ya see.

I think you misread. I have clearly indicated that one of them is better than the other. That's why I think it is so important to pick it. I mean, imagine if you DID pick the other one! How would you explain it to your friends and colleagues?

So, whatever you do, just don't pick that one. It's got tougher players and fewer fish, the pro's hate it and no one ever gets to the highest levels in that game. If you do (for whatever reason) play it, I would just warn you to expect to lose constantly.

Whats worse is if you DO choose it, there is no going back. Your stuck there and I can't get you out of that jam.

Good luck, and make the right decision here. I hope my advice helps.

For low blind tables (0.01/0.02; 0.02/0.05) best is 9 player table. For normal size blinds - 6max.
Less players - easy to learn how they play.

It's a matter of preference.......at first i started out with full ring but I found that I love the 'rush' and action so I switched to 6 max...

I play full ring simple because I read the HUD statistics better right now and I'm just learning a HUD. Before I ever used a HUD, I found 6-max much easier and made most of my profits at 6-max due to the ability to understand players better in a smaller amount of time and that leading to fish spotting fairly easily. Coolers are less frequent at 6-max, too, though the players like to play even more draw heavy poker.

Are you playing 6max or FR? I thought YOU would be crushing 5, going by your 2NL beastiality

6 max. Maybe the larger amount of money is tilting me lol or I'm again overthinking things?

Definitely overthinking. Its weird, for all the learning and improving ive certainly gone through, you have to get yourself into this ABC straightforward state, otherwise you get owned. Today made me laugh, 10nl 6 max and was running something like 14/12 after about 200 hands (card dead and being a str8 up nit) yet I got into a pre flop war holding KK UTG with some guy eventually shoving with AQo. Weekends make me happy

Well it depends.... In fr you have way more nits than in 6max.... In 6max there is more action... I personally preffer 6max over fr,but i sometimes mix 6max and fr,open 4 tables each...
