Decided to try, so qualified for it yesterday, got in. Is the play in the second round as bad as is it in the first round, or is there an improvement?

I won't be QUITE as horrible, but you'll still need about seven metric tons of luck to make it to round three. I've played two or three of the second round satellites, but never quite made it to round three. :( Basically, the structure is so extremely top-heavy and fast, and the play is so loose that if you don't get lucky and triple or quadruple your stack in the first 10-20 hands, there's just no way you'll make to the next round (from my experience).

I haven't tried it for a while just because I got tired of the "whack-a-mole" like registration procedure (where you basically have to register within 5 seconds of the tourney popping into the lobby to get in), but maybe I'll give it another "whack" one of these days. . . . ;)

Anyway, good luck! (you'll need it. . . .)

I know it will be hard to actually get all the way through. I can deal with the blind structure and so forth. The main difference in my play is how I deal with donk's and people trying to suckout etc...

At the start there's a ton of players sitting out, probably about half of them. Try to build your stack from the players sitting out, and do a good job at adapting to shorthanded play even though some players might not realize that it's shorthanded.

Logic here should tell you that almost everyone in round 2 is as good as you were to get there.

The folks who buy-in will likely be the closest thing to fish you will find. Unfortunately there is no easy way to find out who won their seat, or who bought their seat.

I sat out for a while with the Second Round. It got rid of a lot of donkeys. And, it kept me from playing legitimate hands and dodging suck outs.
