Hey guys,

I'm looking to get into coaching, but I don't feel comfortable charging anything until I get some experience under my belt.

I'd like to start with one student, and I require the following:

1) commitment to learning - I would like someone who is ready to listen, and is willing to keep an open mind. I tried coaching a friend before, but every time I suggested something, he would say "yea, but i think my move was the best" without even thinking about what I said. There's a reason he was not a winning player and he wasn't willing to admit that.

2) pokertracker - you need to have pokertracker. not only does it record your stats, but it keeps all your hands on record so you can easily review your sessions afterwards. it is near impossible to learn without immediate review of the hands you played.

3) no-limit cash game 6-max player - this is the game I am best at and spend 95% of my online time playing. i'm comfortable teaching anywhere up to 50NL

My style is mostly TAG, and I will teach a similar style. I play about 20/16.

Also, this is how it will work. I will be available through AIM most of the time to talk, and we will record some of your sessions, review them, and find out how we can improve your game!

Thanks for reading this long post - if anyone is interested, please reply here with a brief history of your poker career, and reasons why you should be picked for free coaching.

I'll pick someone from the bunch in a couple days.

Hi, I've been playing for about 2 years. I was a SNG player with an roi of 10%, but I have recently converted to 6max cash. I have about 25000 hands and I have pt. My stats are 21/11/2 but I would like to get the pfr a bit higher. I have been reading a lot of articles lately trying to improve my play, but I still have a lot to learn. I tend to make silly mistakes, usually taking TPTK to the felt and I find putting villains on hand ranges quite difficult. This is were I want to improve, to get from the level 1 thinking up to a more advanced level. I play mainly $50nl but I have had stabs at $100.

Perhaps you could provide a brief history of your poker career, and/or your qualifications to teach/coach? You might get more (or more serious) replies if you did so...

oops good idea.

i started playing poker about 3 years ago with $25 i put in a partypoker account. i was playing mostly small stakes LHE starting at the lowest games they offered (i think it was .25/.50 back then), getting lucky i didn't bust out immediately, and working my way up to 2/4 LHE.

back then, i had a bit of ADD, and went through a constant cycle of play a whole lot of poker --> burn out --> come back after a while and play a whole lot --> burn out etc etc etc.

one of these times after i came back, decided to try SNG's. once again, i started at the bottom playing the $5+1's (which no body should ever play btw... 20% vig is ridiculous) and worked my way up to the $30's where i was a winner in the teens...

once again, i stopped playing for a while, and when i came back started playing NLHE cash games. started at the bottom, and worked my way up until i was 9-tabling the 200NL party cash games. now, some ppl may be able to 9+ table long term, but i wasn't one of them. this burned me out relatively quickly, and i stopped playing poker again in early-middle 2006.

i didn't think much about the game until november i think it was... when all the legistlation went down. i said "o no" and withdrew all my money, and that was that til earlier this year. i had a coworker who played sng's all the time, and one day i looked over his shoulder and though "wth are you doing". that prompted my "comeback" to online poker. i deposited some money in stars, and started 6tabling the low turbo sngs. after playing several hundred i went back to cash games where i've finally stayed.

i know i've moved around a lot, but cash games is where i've finally found the drive to play consistently and continue to make myself learn. since march, i've been playing about 25-30k hands/mo, and this comeback has been the hardest part of my poker journey yet. the games were completely different from when i had left a year prior, and it was hard for me to adjust at first. however, through some study i've improved my game quite a bit, and am comfortable playing 100NL and 200NL

i recently got some coaching, and it has helped tremendously. i still make dumb mistakes in the heat of the moment a lot, and honestly i still tilt from time to time. however, these are things i'm working on, and i am constantly trying to improve and move up.

i truly believe that i can provide valuable insight to a player who is not doing particularly well at the lower limits, and theres really nothing to lose for a player like that either.

also, i have 0 experience coaching. i have been coached, but that's about it. that's why i would like to do it for free first. this is not only a trial for the person being coached, it's also a trial for me. (that's my disclaimer lol)

ok that was a bit longer than i meant it to be... enjoy!
