Wasnt too comfortable calling with the 10 kicker. Too nitty here?

Also its more likely he called me a fish to put me on tilt so I could call and pay him off I think.

I think you played well, he may had a better ace. I would have tried a 3bet bluff preflop, though

I agree too with the fold it would have been easy for him to catch low trips or even still more than likely had An Ace with a higher kicker.

Why did you donk turn?

I’d say don’t donk turn. Call down most safe run outs vs reasonable bet sizes.

Fold was alright. Chat can be a good tool to gauge your opponents. I think you had the right read. No need to play after reraise on turn.

A10 is very difficult hand to play. I would rather have a low pocket pair than A10. It is easy to get away from a low pocket pair and if you flop a set it is set up to win a big pot. A10 turns you into a calling station all the way to the end.

In previous experience when I'm OOP the preflop agressor likes to bluff the flop and then check the turn to get a free card.

I just didnt want him to get a free card.

Can the reraise not just be a semi-bluff after the heart draw came?

At this point you have a bluff catcher?

That’s why ever time I play Ace whatever I think about what would I do at the river when I am faced with a large bet. Most times with weak kicker you will fold so if you didn’t get a killer hand after flop it’s hard to continue

How often does someone overbet the pot with their bluffs though?

With more than you imagine, if you watch a stream from a poker professional he will tell you or you will see that type of movement, usually overbets are semi-bluffs 8 out of 10 times

What if villain has a flush draw/2nd pair and checks turn - do I not miss value?

Which is a small part of villains range.

You don’t know if your value betting or bluffing from what you say. And if we’re ever to develop a donking range on this turn it has to be more polarised than tp ok kicker.

Here we take a great sdv hand, bloat the pot allowing villain to play perfectly and lose more.

We check an awful lot here oop anyway. If we put this hand into a donk range then our checks are too weak.

Procedural x/c.

Makes sense thanks.

Just to make sure - so a donk bet with top set may not be so bad?
