Thoughts? been having not necesarily issues, but situations i feel i could have either check/bet less and continued building the pot up, sitting on the top pair//flush draw

or

bet big hope for calls and cards. (obv not advised a lot of the time)

thanks

Depends on your opponent. I personally would take the pot as soon as possible. However if you think he is calling no matter what 90% of the time even all in then its best to check call to river to control the pot size. Always keep in mind who you are playing.

I like making bets they can call while getting bad odds, but which do not commit me. Possibly checking the river; especially if it will induce a bet on the river when they miss. It is ok to keep them in the hand.

Definitely depends on the opponent and what the opponent thinks at you.

I would say in most cases you are ahead, and should play it that way. If it was me, I would be betting half to full pot bet on flop and turn. If I hit the flush, I would either check (if I think he might bluff), or go all-in, if I think he might think I am bluffing and am trying to represent the draw (i.e. I have been playing that I have a made hand up to this point).

I like to thin bet the top pair / flush draw, depending on the high card; I don't like taking it to the river unless I hit. If you control the aggressor role, maintaining reasonable bets, depending on the amount of people in the pot, it could backfire, but it could also work to keep more people in with smaller raises who wouldn't normally call, turning small equity all around into increased profitability... unless someone's cards / strategy prevail. It's a gamble in my opinion.

Situational. There is no standard way to play. It depends on so many things, here are some.

What is your position, how did preflop play go down, what is your image, how many opponents in the hand and their position to you, SPR as well as relative stack sizes, stakes could be an issue and many more. The type of player(s) you are up against will be paramount as to how you should proceed in many, if not most, cases.

Best way is to take real hand histories and post them in HH analysis thread. Include all info above and any other you may have - history with villain or w/e.

Is it top pair top kicker? Or top pair on your suited connectors vs a tight opponent under the gun? Lots of variables but generally in this position I'd say you want more money in the pot to get paid off, if somebody is calling you 90% of the time they are the callingest of calling stations and why wouldn't you bet to get more money in? But ya hard to say with so little information

It is necessary to take the game to Your opponent. The less You are familiar with your opponent, the more cautious you should behave. To be sure, check your opponent and make a small bet on the flop and look at the reaction of Your opponent. Proceeding from it, You will get an impression of whether Your opponent has something on his hands, or he is bluffing.

With regards to playing, I would want to win small pots then lose big pots.. In my opinion UI would want to take down any pot as early as possible unless you have the nuts then, try to get more out..

Unless I am sitting really deep I would always play this very aggressively in and out of position. The depth of your stack is a very important metric in determining how you should play your mega draws.

I'm literally always looking to get in top pair with a flush draw, I play it super aggressively and will look to get it in on the flop where possible, if not I will jam a lot of turns too, really puts your opponent in a tough spot as you look incredibly strong, you can be behind to overpairs/straights but you can still outdraw them and you have fold equity in your favor.

Top pair and a flush draw is basically a never fold for me. I always want to get in as much money as possible on the flop so i am guaranteed to see two cards instead of one. Playing it super aggro is the most profitable way to play it IMO, because your aggression can either get folds from better hands, or even if your opponent does not fold for stacks, you still have considerable equity against basically his entire range, except v sets.
