Did I play this wrong?
Should I have raised preflop? Had been a all in fest which is why I bought in short. Every couple hands had 3 or 4 people all in pre. I watched table for roughly 20 minutes before sitting. This is my second hand at table. I didn't reload as my mind was in a million places. Honestly, even if I played right im mad at my decision making. I correctly put co on the flush draw but i didnt even calculate the buttons possible range. All i thought was we got a set we getting it in! I really regret not looking for a tell or trying to level his range. Any insight is appreciated

Insights:

  • Don't buy-in short
  • You can raise/call an all-in profitably preflop here considering their ranges are almost ATC (in the BTNs case it's quite literally ATC).
  • Never 2nd guess getting in a 30bb stack with a set. Hell never 2nd guess getting in a 100bb stack with a set.
  • Don't post bad beats in the Cash forum

It is a sort of cooler. You fop a set and he flops a filled in straight. Short you don't blink and move on. I would have raised especially with a straddle and as stated above just get it in since you are short and this is a wild shove fest table. Short like this you aren't looking to flop sets and play deep...You aren't deep so you would be looking to get it in. Buy in full if you want to play it differently but in that case it is hard to get away from. The other guy can have a lot of hands you beat including flush draws, two pair and an overpair or some combo..It was just a cooler.

I agree. I definitely should have raised pre flop. Stupidly set mining with a mini stack. It was definitely a raise or fold situation being oop. Learned from this mistake. Good lesson at a cheap price.

Well I wouldn't recommend folding your BB for free but it's a raise pre.

Its not free its a 5$ straddle. And it takes away my position away preflop. If I am short stacked i might tighten range and lets 4s go. Depending on the table
