OK, Since I didnt get any responses, I'll give my thoughts. Whith a polarized range, my opponent only has to put his range against nuts or bluff, but by including some of my moderate strength hands I can make his bluff catcher calls a mistake. His estimation of my range is likely still that I either have a monster or some kind of draw so he may call me with a bluff catcher, especially if I have been active and agressive. With my top pair / over pair hands I have more hands that are likely to beat his bluff catchers, blockers vs. better top pair hands, and I get paid by people who have betwhencheckedto desiese. I also suspect that players I develop a history with will become less likely call my checkraises because their bluffcatchers lose value.
I do believe that just betting out with top pair hands is usually the better play, but mixing enough check raises with them should sow confusion, creating more opportunities for the enemy to make mistakes. I like to pick agressive players for this play, Both wet and dry flops. I also like it if I 3bet oop.
