this is a play that i esepcially like to make when there is an ace out there on the board. if they haven't got AK or pocket aces then they generally check the turn and then i take it down with a decent sized bet. playing $10nl.

thoughts/opinions?

there is no poker formula so you can't do this for every opponent but against some it works well

What range do people at 10nl generally 3bet from the blinds?

normally ten's and upward.
just wondering if people think it's too risky/loose play or anything else like that?

Depends on how many Aces are generally in their range. If it's TT+/AK it probably fine IF you think they'll fold TT-KK on an Ace high board (pretty big assumption imo). If it's TT+/AQ+ there are as many Ax combos in their range as underpairs. If they have any other Ax hands in there it's more likely that they have TP with the Ace than not.

If you put villian on a range of TT+ AK and he does exactly what you said you still lose money.

Ahigh flops arent dealt enough for you to make enough money back postflop to make up for the preflop call.

Even if we have you calling with PP doing exactly the same thing and getting villian to stack off on the turn if you have a set.. you still lose money overall.

Dont try and get fancy in 3bet pots against people who only 3bet good hands, it just dosent work.

I think you forget to ask yourself how often an Ace comes on the flop after you call someone's 3bet in postion. If no Ace coming, then what's the deal?

they could have AK and also not hit the flop.
