https://www.cardschat.com/blog/10/18/flhe-part-1-general-preflop-play/

These new strategy posts will be sort of half strategy, half documentation of how I've been playing.

I know we don't have many FLHE players on cardschat, but I'd really like any input on my strategic blog posts from any who do play to see what you think I'm doing right/wrong and how I can improve.

I'll basically be running through strategic posts on preflop play, postflop play and other random aspects of the game every few days or so. Maybe some example hands or situations too.

Any CC:er who even considers folding T8 from the BB vs. a button open raise will be summarily defenestrated by me.

Ive been playing more of LHE lately and have been doing quite well. I play 25c 50c on stars and I'm looking to move up soon.
I'm also re-reading the LHE section in ss2 and I'm gonna get "winning low limit, by Lee Jones."
I look forward to following this blog.

Yep, and a week or two ago I would have thought it was standard

Had to look up defenestrated and it made me laugh even harder.

I totally agree, cuz ya never know what the flop is going to be. you could crack KK, AA, or even both by flopping top 2 pair!:D

I've played quite a bit of limit hold em, usually at a $3/6 table in casinos, and the overwhelming thing I have noticed in small stakes games is that you don't bluff. It's next to impossible to bluff until you move up to the higher limits and calling a check raise for $40 actually makes a dent in your stack. Especially at the micro limits when you can check-call your way to the river for like $.10 total or whatever it would be at a .01/.02 game.

However, you can also use that same fact to your advantage. You need to rely on the cards a little more than you do in NL when you can just shove and put someone off a hand, but it can be very profitable knowing that you hold the nuts and that you will get called down with top pair more often than not.

With limit games, I'm much more inclined to get into a pot with small connectors, as straights and flushes play very well in multi way pots. Since you are playing limit, you will almost certainly being facing multiway pots almost every hand.

I also tend to ignore the actual stakes when playing a limit game. Too often you can get in the habit of telling yourself "it's only x more, I can chase down my draw." If someone reraises your raise, take a minute and think about what hands the guy could have to actually warrant a reraise. I can't begin to tell you how many hands I've watched people just cap the betting every round because they think they have a good hand, only to find out their hand is like 3rd best when it comes to showdown.
