So today me and a buddy decided to go fishing. We get out there around 10:30 am and it is windy as all hell and started to drizzle a bit. Couldn't get much going. I say, hey you know there's a casino like 25 mins from here right? No interest, he's broke blah blah. So we go to a little pond I know of. We're there for about 45 mins and I actually managed two small bass. Meh, still crappy conditions. So again, Hey you know we can still run to the casino lol. And finally he agrees and said he'll just play the slots.

So we get to the casino around 4 and I decided to put 200 down on 200NL. Very nervous at this point. Didn't know where to go, who to speak to and so on. Finally, I get it all figured out. I sit down at a brand new table. Which I preferred since it wasn't like they all had hands on each other and im just the new guy. So about 6 hands in, I get AJs in MP. I come in for a raise of $12 seeing as 6x bb was standard in the first few hands that got raised. I get one caller in LP and the clop comes KQx. I check, he checks. Turn brings a T. I bet $12 (pot is $27). He folds.

Then we fast forward for quite a bit due to no cards whatsoever. So im in HJ with 55 and 2 limpers ahead of me. I make it $16. I get 2 callers. Flop comes K75. Check to me. I bet $10 (kinda small but one of the 2 callers is hyper aggro and splashes a lot of pots, not many showdowns. He just seems very bluffy) fold from LP and he raises to $35. As much as I felt good about my hand, I didn't wanna get sucked out on. So I raise it to $85. He tanks for a minute, all the while I'm staring dead at him (though my heart was pounding lol). He eventually says "Ya know I got a real big hand here". I shrugged. He eventually lays it down. Nice little pot.

Very next hand I get Ac5c and decide I'll come in as it was limped to me (3 limpers). Every other hand I raised but decided ahh hell i'll call. Bad move I guess :(. Flop comes all clubs. Checks to me and I check, LP checks. Turn comes no scare card. Checks to me, I bet out $10 and get all folds :(. Maybe I should've just opened for a raise. And really that was about the extent of my trip because my friend said he busted at roulette lol. Total was $250 after about 2 hours.

Still, it felt really awesome to sit down at a casino table for once. I've been to a few home games but that's about it so far. Can't wait to go back! Probably next weekend im off weeks from now! :D

Edit: Wanted to take home a chip, so took home a $1 lol

You need to get out of that train of thought.
Also the "while I'm staring dead at him" is a huge tell here.

I agree about the getting sucked out on train of thought
But staring at him as a tell I really don't see. I am focusing on his actions, and quite frankly he was looking at his chips the entire time anyway

You don't play live at casino very often? Man I couldn't handle just playing online.

I play a casino 1/2 game every friday from 6pm-4am. I play a home game every monday 1/3. Then I sprinkle in other tourneys and online poker.

I was just out in Vegas for third year in a row and I spent every night on poker tables at Harrahs and Flamingo. I was with my girl so I didn;t play much during day but played over night a few nights in a row. Theres games everywhere and at anytime. Its amazing.

A buddy of mine lives on strip and plays for a living basically and I am really thinking about joining him in August.

Playing live is so much better for me than online. So much more profitable for me as well.

Now that you have been to a casino game keep doing it more and more! It's great.

Yeah I was always nervous and wanted to go with someone at least for the first time. Now that i've been "Casino de-virginized" so to speak I will be going back whenever I get the free time away from family. I had a blast even if it was only a 2 hour session. I am planning on going 2 weekends from now and plan on putting in a 12 hour session. I'm bringing 3 buyins for 200nl. Sound like a good plan? I saw sCat talking about how online is just bringing down the level of play involved with poker and I agree. I mean sure I want to have people call me with junk too but its like every hand online is getting to be where my opponents range is like 90% because they will play T6o the same as AKs. Tough to put them on anything. Of course, this is because I play micro stakes online. Just don't have the trust in my game to shoot for bigger stakes.

So I figure I'll try my hand at live. I noticed while checking out the tables, while waiting for my seat to open, there were many many many people who just appeared to be clueless tourists. And even the ones that weren't tourists and go a lot didn't have a clue. Can't wait for my next trip!

Given what you said about villain, you absolutely have to flat his raise otf with the effective nuts IP and let him carry on doing his thing all the way to the river.

I agree. The more I thought about it last night, the more I regretted not just flatting. Thinkin maybe flat his raise, then check the turn to him? See if he'll bet big into me. The pot wouldve been around 105 or so by then so if he did fire another bullet I guess we expect around 65-70?

I thought we were IP? But yeah, if he checks to us, we bet enough to make a river shove easy.

i don't think it was a bad play..the what if game is kind of irrelevant in my opinion but every situation is different. sometimes a flat or raise doesn't make a difference which is why i flat bet often because it usually gets folds no matter what the bet. I don't ever raise either until i can get a showdown and get an image that way i can raise out of the blue with nothing and take down the pot. The closest casino to me is 1.5 hours so i don't go often. My first trip, first hand dealt to me in a 1/2 NL were pocket queens. i usually limp in to get more callers, but i made standard raise..in which i was going to go all in for my whole 100 but decided to just make the raise instead. Two callers. First guy bets 15..which i noticed before i sat down that he always bet 15 on the flop no matter what he had and usually took the pot. The flop had an ace, x , x..i knew he didn't have an ace but the other guy raised before it got to me for 50. My reaction was to push..but after careful thinking..i laid it down. The other guy called and at the showdown turned out the BB had AK.

Oops I confused myself lol. Yeah if I just flatted flop there's a good chance he fires straight out on the turn
