Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place but I would like to build a 3-Bet calling range and a Value/bluff 4-Bet range vs. a specific opponent. This is what I know about him:

- 3Bet BTN vs. CO: 21% (10/47 hands);
- 3Bet SB vs. CO: 12% (4/34 hands);
- 3Bet SB vs. BTN: 14% (6/42 hands);
- Fold to 4Bet After 3Bet: 100% (6/6 hands).

So far, I've 4Bet him light at random times but I would like to build an actual range if possible.

If I'm in the CO and villain 3Bets me from the BTN, according to "Harrington on Online Cash Games", I can call with a range of 48% to 55%, 4Bet for value with a range stronger than 55% (not considering villain's continuing range) and I can bluff 4-bet hands that are weaker than the calling range. So, we have:

- Call 3-Bet OOP: 88-66,ATs-A8s,KJs+,AJo-ATo,KQo (74 combos, 5.6%);
- Value 4-Bet: 99+,AJs+,AQo+ (72 combos, 5.4%);
- Bluff 4-Bet: 55-44,A7s-A2s,KTs,QJs,A9o,KJo (68 combos, 5.1%).

For the Bluff 4-Bet range, I considered hands with a 44.50%-48% equity vs. villain's 3-Bet range.

I would like some input on this to see if I'm on the right track or not really.

Thanks

Great topic I hope you can work it out. I have been trying to get myself to do similar thought/practise exersice always failing. Your 3bet calling range oop is partly hard to play?

Hi,

That range was simply based on the raw equity of the cards. So far, I haven't used a predefined defending range so I don't know if I would actually call with all those hands. Really depends on comfort level postflop, how the cards are falling in that given day, opponent's skill level postflop, etc. There is a rule about never calling 3Bets OOP against other regular players but, if someone is 3Betting me this light, I feel like I should actually play some cards... Besides, this player has a weakness I noticed when I first played her. She has a wide 3-Bet range but is pretty straightforward postflop, only c-betting if she has something. There are better players who always keep you guessing postflop and against who I feel more inclined to fold or re-raise.

Hope this answer helped.

Cheers

Every time I have started doing this I get the same answer. I should start from my value 4 bet range and that should lead villain's AI range about 55% Now AI range for aggressive villain is around some AK, QQ+ 6max zoom pokerstars NL2-NL10 meaning we should 4bet valuebet about KK+. That is where the theory ends, I dont know how to continue, all texts about it is against somewhat balanced ranges.

All hints I get to answer is that I should rentlesly bluff 4bet :D Every time I tried it I end up about break even \ little losing, but then again I suck postflop.

Hi,

I'm not sure of what I'm doing either. I've read a lot about 4-Bet ranges but I think this article is the most in-depth there is:

http://en.donkr.com/Articles/optimal-3-bet-4-bet-5-bet-strategies-in-nl-holdem-6-max---part-1-329

Maybe I will base my ranges on the author's math instead of what I did. We'll see.
