There are times when I find myself uncertain as to what the "correct" play is.
I am mostly a tournament player and the examples I have chosen are cash games.
Below I have reconstructed two scenarios which recently occurred and have asked for straight forward analysis of what I should do in each situation.
I hope the EXPERT PLAYERS on here will be generous enough to contribute their knowledge for the benefit of anyone who reads their remarks.

Scenario -#1 – calling a 3 bet large raise pre-flop
2 / 5 game - no straddle
Me: pocket 10’s & under the gun
ug – raise to $15, fold, fold, fold, call, call, fold, fold, fold, BB raise to $85
I have about $300+ behind - BB much more $$$
WHAT SHOULD I DO IN THIS CASE ? ? ? ?
Fold? Call the raise? Go all in ?
I’ll tell you later what I did and why I think it was wrong

Scenario # 2
2 / 5 game - no straddle
Button on seat 7 , me seat 4 (pocket Q’s), hand played as follows –
ug folds, seat 2 bets $45, folds around, I call $45, seat 5 calls $45, rest fold.
FLOP – 5c 6c 3h
Raiser seat2 bets $65, I call, seat 5 folds, now heads up
TURN – 7d
Seat 2 checks……..I check
RIVER – 9s
Seat 2 bets $150
WHAT SHOULD I HAVE DONE HERE ????
Possible straight on the board
Remember, Q’s in the hole, I have about $500 behind, seat 2 much more $$$
Where did I make my mistakes and what were they ? I know what I would do differently now but want the input from some of the “experts” with more table time than myself.

I agree with Duggs. In hand one, it's really hard to come to a good conclusion without any reads you had on the guy.

The second hand, I would have have 3bet preflop. The straight doesn't seem like much of a concern to me. Even being on the button, I'm not assuming many people are playing much X4 hands excluding pocket 4's. I may be wrong in this assumption though (ie. not a pro :p) Without knowing any of your reads, I'm betting on the turn. If he comes over top, I'd let it go.

Thanks.I didn't want to be long-winded and give too much info on my first post but I can see that providing some reads would have an impact on the play.
I'll consider myself informed for future questions.

I've seen pros call with all these hands only to set mine and nothing else unless theres a fish that stacks off with TPWK and your fine to get it in versus them. Other than that.

9 handed

1.fold preflop 1010s. If there are tight/regs shoving
2.easy fold on the turn its a np bet and all the small std cnnectors hit. 67s 56s 78s 79s etc. bet you. Easy fold. You should raise fold the flop to see where your at if your playing certain players who will chk chk til river.

9 handed a raise or calls fine if you can fold QQs when you know your beat. Other wise raise your strong hands pre flop to isolate.

Hand 1 is easy fold, youre never ahead here unless you're dead sure all the limpets that followed will limp along still after you call, then TT is a good setmine

I disagree with fold on 2, it's at least a call, based on bet sizing (9x bb pre) it probably means this guy knows nuts about poker. He raised pre could mean one of the pretty painted pocket pairs of which one you destroy and AK. Why didn't he bet the turn? I'm guessing he was hoping to hit ace or king by the river with his AK, notice the smaller than typical flop bet of 40% pot size. unless you have read that this guy is a reg who unusually adjust preflop bet size to beat the table calling stations, just call and pray IMO

Agree on the raising preflop though.

hand 2 reraise or shove flop, def shove by turn
