I noticed you mentioned microstakes. Would a person need to do a lot of 3 betting at NL 5 or should they wait until at least NL 10 before getting more involved with this. Is 3 betting lost on the NL 5 crew?
One more question, I am a 26/15 and 2.6 at the NL 5, should I lean towards less 3 Bet bluffing as I am less likely to be getting much respect?
Well at 5NL I don't think there is really too much light 3betting. I guess people 3bet around 3-4% at most and are perhaps just doing it with a more expanded value range, including JJ and perhaps AQ along with the usual suspects. I think my 3bet is around 4.5-5% so not particulartly high though from the HJ I am just 3betting value IP adding more and more bluffs as position gets better. I guess things are pretty much the same at 10NL and I am hoping to find out soon.
If you are a 26/15 then I would firstly suggest you quit most of that limping and set mining. I think if you can get it to 18/15 you will be nearer to a solid and tight, perhaps a little nitty pre-flop game. This is fine thouh at 5NL. I am running at about 18/17 but expect to tighten up a bit when I move up to 10NL as its a slightly more aggressive game if I remember rightly, atleast at FR.
If you want to 3bet light then I would suggest that you do more of it from the CO and button as having position on villain post-flop will make life a lot easier.
Thanks chippy for your input. Yes we do seem to be thinking along similar lines. It feels good that my understanding of the game is finally opening up and I am now actually betting for a reason and not just because my chart says I am supposed to! Do you play a tight 6max game too?
