Ever get gun shy in limit games and not push it?

There are times when I am playing low limit ring games where of course no matter how much I raise the pot being limit I can't get the calling stations to stop chasing of course. Then after being burned on the river card suck outs over and over after raising and re-raising trying to get a good pot value built up I get this pull back. When I get good hands and even hit the flop I get to tight and don't push it because I fear the suck out caller 3 spots down. So instead of playing to maximize my earnings I play to limit my losses to the suck outs. I know this is not a good way of playing. Do you think I am just allowing a bad streak to affect my play when I do this and I would be better off sticking with my push it up mentality and wait for the odds to take over?

It just sucks not to be able to shake anyone off their crap cards in limit and then push it up all the way only to have them hit their miracle on the river time and again.

I have definitely been gun shy in the past from a lot of bad beats happening to me on the river. It is never a good time. lol

Being gun shy happens more then in limit, even more so in no limit and pot limit games.

That's my favorite part about limit. It's such an easy game against calling stations. Value bet light and never let up.

I agree it sucks no matter what game you are playing to have a river suck out hit. The thing is I find it worse with limit I guess. If someone wants to push all in NL on a draw miracle against what I am holding which I believe to be best at that time that is fine and if they hit I just take the hit and move on. I prefer limit games but to low and the calling sirens never stop screaming. When you are getting 6/9 or more seeing every flop it gets really hairy.

Getting gun shy is normal and it happens to many of us. But, you have to realize it will destroy your profits if you do. In poker there will be variance and you will lose sometimes. But if you are making correct decisions, the money will come.

It sounds like you are getting tilted. Everybody reacts to tilt in different ways. I would advise getting up and taking like a 15 minute break and then coming back to the game.
