What do you poker enthusiasts think the appropriate number of tables one should play to stay 100% focused on the game assuming you recently started playing online but have a strong foundation and good live cash game experience?

Assuming you have a strong foundation on at least preflop play (so that most preflop responses are either standard or at least easy to figure out), I'd say the optimal number is 4 for 6max and about 7-8 for full ring. Just enough so that statistically, you're seeing one flop at a time.

If you're crushing your level so that nearly every decision you make is standard you can play more of course, but honestly I'd recommend sticking to 4 (or 8 as it were) and just moving up the stakes instead.

If you are just starting online start with 2 and add them 1-2 at a time until you get to 4-8 as Aleksei suggests. I play 6 comfortably for several hours and can go up to 12 for maybe 1 hour at a time.

Agreed, i play 4 on bovada and 2 on BCP at the same time without probs. I could probably do more with another monitor but not sure

Myself, I flatly refuse to play FR because I can't mass-table. 6 tables is the edge of what I can handle; I'm more comfortable playing 4 or less (plus I'm laggy and 6max allows for my natural style much better than FR).

So, I play 6max and fast tournament formats mostly.

Couple days back see a 42/25 fish (or around those numbers after 100+ hands) and was 8tabling

With tougher games this days i will say play 24 or or not going to get anywhere, 12 should be the minimun.

Thanks for the feedback. I tend to play 4 but sometimes I find myself involved in a huge pot and tend to focus more on that hand more than the 3 others.

I mostly play cash online so I think 4 is good for now until all my decisions become somewhat second nature

Thanks for the feedback. 12 is a little too much for me :)

I usually play on two tables, so I can be focused on the players against I play.
I can play and on the seven tables at the same time, but than I can not follow other players how they play. so for good and profitable game I prefer to play no more than two tables.

Two is max here as well, small 17" lappy screen....
Anyone have any experience with the Logitech trackball things?
I wind up with numb hands/fingers sometimes....

LeGenie, what do you play, 6max? Basically go with whoever said starting at 2 and going from there. Certainly if you're playing to move up and learn rather than 'grinding' then no more than 4.

If you're playing FR then obviously you can add more than that.
